How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Property: Mercure Townsville
Status: Diamond +
Room booked: can’t remember
Room upgraded/type: maybe ?
Early check in/late out: not needed
Welcome drink: Yes,
Welcome amenity: yes , see image
Recommend: yes

Back up north and was allocated a newly renovated room, located to the right side of the property from reception. Haven’t been over that side in years. Decent but small room, I do like the firmer bedding.
Welcome gift better than 5 star properties.
And a walk in shower for the win.

Sometimes you need to push back on the staff.
I think if you are spending upwards of $30k or even more you are entitled to push your case for a decent upgrade 🤣
Exactly.
Especially as my current Diamond status was achieved solely on spend, without the assistance of a Signature subscription.

All this talk of MGallery and Sofitel... I've got a few stays coming up!
Be interesting to see how they all perform.

Staying 2 nights in CBD prior to wedding - Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour . Booked LUXURY ROOM, Darling Harbour View.
2 nights in ADL after wedding "mini honeymoon" - The Playford Hotel Adelaide - MGallery Collection. Booked 'New York Style' Loft Suite
2 nights in ADL after wedding "mini honeymoon" - Sofitel Adelaide. Booked JUNIOR SUITE (Suite night upgrade)

Property: Pullman Lyon
Status: Plat Explorer +
Room booked: Superior King Room for 130 euro a night
Room upgraded/type: Junior Suite on top floor.
Early check in/late out: Neither needed
Welcome drink: in app
Welcome amenity: fragrance
Recommend: Yes. Very new (under 3 years old i believe), excellent welcoming staff who gave us a crash course on Lyon and some of his favourites (on top of the regular hotel stuff).

It's pretty much attached to the main station for TGV and other places. For this price definitely worth considering over the Sofitel and MGallery in city centre (Sofitel seem to have complaints its a bit dated).

Met the GM in the Lounge, he has been to many Victorian wineries as his sister lives here. Nice bloke, all great staff.

This is their quiet time of year due to rainy season, a storm on the first night but otherwise great albeit the weather hot 30° and humid.
In high season prices are almost double.

Property: Swissotel Nankai Osaka
Status: Platinum Explorer
Room booked: Junior Suite King using 4x Suite Night Upgrade. Was c. $1750 for 5 nights, with the SNUs saving about $700 over the usual price.
Room upgraded/type: No per standard practice for SNUs
Early check in/late out: Not sought
Welcome drink: Yes. Had a coughtail in the 36th floor restaurant
Welcome amenity: Fruit, jelly things, bottle of mineral water
Recommend: Yes

I’ve just come off five nights here. It was mostly a comfortable stay with the room being spacious, a good breakfast spread both in the restaurant and the lounge (a highlight being the bento boxes in the lounge), and an excellent location above Namba station, especially if flying into or out of Kansai airport. The welcome drink was also a step up from the usual beer or house wine, and the lounge’s canapés were sufficient for dinner (with an afternoon tea also available).

Downsides? Of course. Most notably, the lounge was overflowing on the Saturday and Sunday nights (possibly due to Obon), meaning I was relegated to a less extensive spread in the level 36 restaurant both nights. Also, unless megabucks are spent on top of the line suites, showers are over the bath, despite the impractical use of space in the main bedroom. Finally, the room sounded like it was hosting light saber battles, with a swooshing noise occurring a night from what I presumed were the elevators.

All up though, it was nice to only have to schlep me (and not my luggage) around so a hotel above the station’s a winner, particularly when so well connected.
