How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Be aware of the additional €2 per person per night “city tax”. Thought all fees and taxes were prepaid upon booking however this is an additional tax that is collected upon check in.

I think the reason is that you may arrive with fewer (or more) people, so they only can collect what's actually due; EU regulation.

The 'per person' tax also negates putting 2 people in the booking rather than 1 (if you are travelling alone), to get 2 drink vouchers, as I at least do in Australia.

You indicate Platinum status. Outside of Asia/Pacific (and exec. lounges), free Weekend Breakfast is only a defined benefit for those with Diamond (and above) status.

Yep, very good job to score a free Brekky though.
If you don’t ask you don’t receive 😝
Hmmm.

I thought it was Plat and above and asked genuinely on that basis.

Weekend breakfast was also granted in Munich (which I’m yet to write up in the thread)

🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ll take both wins. 👍

Your post had me second guessing myself, but these are the terms on which I was relying.

Weekend breakfast for Plat and above:

I did see that advertising while researching for my post but also knew it was incorrect based on the program as it was when the four levels were introduced.

My post also included a link to the program terms where the breakfast benefit is clearly differentiated between Platinum and Diamond.

I suspect there has been some inaccurate revision of the advertorial benifits page.

Good luck to you

Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre
Status: Silver
They offered me a touch of gold, which in addition of the normal welcome drink, they offered me:
- 2pm check out
- Amenities (2 packs of biscuits)
- High Speed WiFi
- Room upgrade
Quite surprised by this tbh, considering I ditched ALL status in 2025.

Property: Nototel Melbourne Central
Status: All Accor Explorer Platinum
Room booked: Deluxe
Room upgraded/type: No
Rate: RHR ~ 130 p/n
Early check in/late out: Late check out 1pm requested and received.
Free internet: Yes, speed ok
Free breakfast: Yes, eggs made to order available as well as mid size buffet, quite decent, offered a barista coffee on the 2nd morning.
Welcome drink: Yes, 2x app, 1x paper voucher (includes wine, basic spirits, beer or softies and signature coughtail ) basically the happy hour menu
Welcome amenity: wine, chocolate, socks and water
Recommend: Yes when the price is right

Had a last minute 2 night stay in the city, picked up a decent RHR rate and overall was a good stay and decent location.

Only odd thing was on check-in I asked about an upgrade, I booked a deluxe which is top of the normal rooms, next category is junior suite.

Staff: sorry you are already in the highest category.
Me: what about a suite, I can see those are available, and are the next class up.
Staff: oh you have to book a king bed room to upgrade to a suite
Me: I have booked a king bed room
Staff: ah yes you have, but you have to book a superior king bed room to get an upgrade
Me: so I have to book a lower class room to get an upgrade?
staff: Yes a superior room we don’t upgrade from deluxe
Me: are you sure, that does not make sense that I have to book a lower room and pay less to get an upgrade.
Staff: yes you cannot upgrade from your room.
Me: 🤷‍♂️

I gave up at that point figuring they have some form of non upgrade policy, I stayed here a couple of years ago when gold and was told I had been upgraded but the room was the same on the 2nd lowest floor, when asked about that was given the run around.

Other staff were very pleasant,

Annoyingly the restaurant/bar is closed on Sunday and also does not open until 4pm, so hard to use vouchers during the day, I was given a paper voucher to use in the cafe on the ground floor but they rejected it as they only accept it on Sunday morning , I went in the afternoon.

Property: Aparthotel Adagio Paris Opera

Status: All Accor Explorer Platnium

Room booked: Studio

Room upgraded/type: Was advised at check in that I have been upgraded to the next category 'Superior large studio', which was a nice surprise as Adagio hotels are excluded from this

Rate: Guest Star offer ~$250 AUD p/n

Early check in/late out: Early check in/late check out not required.

Free internet: Yes

Free breakfast: N/A

Welcome drink: Yes, could be redeemed for any drink/item < €5 from lobby

Recommend: Yes, hotel is next to multiple stations (Opera, Auber, Havre Caumartin, Gare Saint-Lazare) and Printemps & Galeries Lafayette department stores. The room has a full kitchen which we used to cook food purchased from Galeries Lafayette.

The hotel also has an inhouse laundry room (€5 wash & €2.50 drying) which was very handy.

Property: SO/ Paris

Status: All Accor Explorer Platnium

Room booked: Collection king - courtyard view

Room upgraded/type: Collection king - rooftop view

Rate: Guest Star offer ~$800 AUD p/n (decided to splurge for our last night in Paris )

Early check in/late out: Early check in 12pm/late check out 1pm (had to confirm with reception on morning of depature for late check out if it was still possible)

Free internet: Yes

Free breakfast: N/A

Welcome drink: Yes, could be redeemed for any drink (including coughtails and spirits just not the most expensive ones on the menu) in Bonnie bar on level 15. Was also provided a mocktail during the check in process.

Welcome amenity: 2x chocolate cupcakes and bar of chocolate. All soft drinks from mini bar were complimentary and is topped up during the turndown service.

Recommend: Yes, hotel is away from the hustle and bustle but still close enough to walk to landmarks like Notre Dame. Service at the hotel is exceptional, right from check in where despite requesting early check in the room wasn't ready however receptionist managed to get housekeeping to expedite a room. Once checked in, someone from concierge will personally escort you to your room and show you how everything works, before another person brings in the welcome amenities.

Bonnie restaraunt had excellent local cusine and provides a 360 degree view of Paris. Just be concious that any charges at the restaraunt and bar will not count for reward/status points as it is a separate entity to the hotel.

Welcome give was 1 sparking water and 1 chocolate to share between the 2 of us. Lol
Buffet breakfast was small but good quality.
Wood be nice to stroll around the gardens when the weather isn’t cough.

1 night stay after evening arrival before early flight to NZ tomorrow.

Have no idea why i booked a room with breaky given we will grab breaky at Qantas First Lounge tomorrow. I can only assume it was cheapest rate at the time, maybe i'll take a quick look of offering as research in the morning.

Checked in at priority desk, no waiting. Room seems comfortable enough, very quiet and fit for purpose (walk in shower, decent bed, avoiding inflated cbd prices due to Aus open).

ETA: didnt have time to check out breaky buffet. Small gripe with shower, it had a rainfall head (preferred by me) and hand held BUT neither myself nor partner could find any mechanism to switch to the rain fall head, so water went beyond the screen wetting the shower mat. We have stayed in 100s of hotels between us and always been able to switch betsween shower heads, i swear the rainfall in this case was just for show.

To save two posts from the same hotel:

As a platinum member, got the same level room upgrade from the superior queen room - however with two serves of chocolate almonds 😇

Was surprised at the amount of wear and tear within the room for a hotel of it's age!

Property: Movenpick Melbourne
Status: Platinum
Room booked: Superior King Room
Room upgraded/type: Yes, Suite facing away from Spencer street
Rate: $206/night (Amex GBT rate)
Early check in/late out: Not required
Free internet: Yes
Free breakfast: Yes - gosh it's gone super downhill very basic (no real difference then Novotel MEL AP), miss the old Asian themed breakfast
Welcome drink: No, seems the GBT rate results in no drinks in 2026 :(
Welcome amenity: yes - chocolate sprinkle & a welcome note

Didn't keep Diamond due to limited work travel in Q4, so was keen to see any tangible differences - no real difference other then the bottle of sparkling fizz not being in the fridge. The duty manager did remark the week before Aus Open was dead, so perhaps the suite upgrades won't be the regular thing this year.

Property: Tribe Bali Kuta
Status: All Accor Explorer Platinum

Early check in/late out: Late check out 1pm requested and received.
Free internet: Yes, but 5G was faster
Free breakfast: Yes, buffet on the roof near the pool which was good.
Welcome drink: Yes, 1x via app redeemed for a beer given in a cooler by the pool.
Welcome amenity: some mini cakes
Recommend: Yes for a short stay in Bali it’s close enough to the airport and good value. The hotel reached out via WhatsApp prior to arrival to confirm the “upgrade” and also arrival time.

I wasn’t a huge fan of their bottled water idea, I’d rather named brand and sealed plastic rather than “safe local tap water” and suffice to say I ordered other bottled water via blinkit

Free internet: Yes.
Free breakfast: Yes, buffet on level 2 was extensive.
Welcome drink: Yes, 1x via app redeemed at bar for a beer, they’ve got a seperate menu for welcome drinks.
Welcome amenity: Never received and forgot to ask.
Recommend: Yes, it’s modern/clean and central Delhi. Good location to the train stations and red fort just a short uber away. Zero mention of status but did get an upgrade and welcome drink so it exists just not mentioned.

IMG_9243.jpegIMG_9244.jpegIMG_9245.jpegIMG_9246.jpeg

The pool 2 floors up on the roof which was freezing. This was a mid December stay.
IMG_9247.jpeg

Went to the bar on the same floor instead. That haze is population which was about 450ppm on the 2.5 size. I had one outside drink before I could feel it and moved inside.

Free breakfast: Yes, buffet on the ground floor.
Welcome drink: Yes, 1x via app redeemed at the bar.
Welcome amenity: Had to ask way too many times and it only showed up late on the 2nd night, was some fruit and sweets.
Recommend: Yes, best accor in Chennai and its newish. I think it originally opened as a non Accor hotel and quickly joined regardless it’s close enough to the airport an centre of town.

Now rather amusingly this place had a club lounge. From 5-7pm was all it was open and the first night I went and there was one other couple who were checking in, the 2nd night it was just me. It had a small selection of cheese/meats/bites plus beer/wine and spirits.

Property: Sofitel Bangkok
Status: All Accor Explorer Platinum
Room booked: Junior Suite
Room upgraded/type: No, Was a SNU and so technically not eligible that being said the first SNU where I haven’t received an upgrade on top.
Rate: SNU Flex ~AU$421 paid - total $659 and $237 covered by the SNU
Early check in/late out: Arrived an hour before offical check in but shouldn’t have made a difference, checked in regardless.
Free internet: Yes, but 5G was faster!
Free breakfast: Left prior to breakfast but they provided breakfast bags to go.
Welcome drink: Yes, didn’t appear in app and had to ask multiple people before finally getting a paper voucher. Used on the roof bar for a coughtail, they had a seperate menu for the welcome drink.
Welcome amenity: Fruit… had to ask multiple times and finally at almost 10pm on the rooftop bar asked the bar staff to talk to hotel and figure out what was going on.
Recommend: No, check in was a shambles (albeit I in the interest of speed refused club check in). Club lounge was fine but nothing special and just in general having to follow up for welcome drink plus amenity annoyed me. Finally I want to point out that the hotel is in the red light district so when I left the hotel at 6am for an 8am flight there were many non residents leaving the hotel for the night.

When you can get just as modern but a little less luxury for 1/4th the price and in a much better location I’d struggle to see why anyone would rush to this place.

Also I stayed here late January and so writing this today remembered two things with the photos that were weird, number one was the window from the bathroom above the bed and the other was everything from lights to ac and TV was all iPad controlled and it took me way too long to figure that out.
