How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

Property: Movenpick Hobart
Status: platinum
Room booked: superior king city view
Room upgraded/type: yes - deluxe king harbour view
Free internet: Yes
Free breakfast: yes (and it was DELICIOUS)
Early check in/late out: Not required
Welcome drink: yes. Local beers and cider. The available wines were largely Legacy.
Welcome gift: plate of cakes and chocolates (two chocolate covered strawberries are missing from the attached pic 🫣)
Recommend: thoroughly.

As a Hobart local, I had a one night stay-cay at the Movenpick last week. I have stayed at the hotel once before, about three years ago, and am glad to say the hotel still delivered a great stay, and good ALL recognition.

On check in I was thanked for loyalty and told that my room had been upgraded. The room that I was given had a spectacular view, and it was lovely to be reminded how beautiful my home city is! With that said, the room was definitely smaller than the one I booked. This didn’t matter for one night, but may be an issue for a longer stay.

Welcome drinks were good. I steered clear of the Legacy wine option, but had a local cider (Willie smiths) and my partner had a local beer (pale ale of some sort). My daughter loved the free ice cream and we all enjoyed the chocolate hour (330-430pm).

We had room service for dinner and it was absolutely delicious, and delivered quite quickly. Prices were reasonable, too.

Breakfast the next morning was excellent in the Tesoro restaurant downstairs. I was told I could order a dish from the menu and a small continental buffet is also available. I didn’t bother with the buffet -that was underwhelming- but the plated breakfast might have been the best hotel Brekky that I’ve had in Aus. No extra barista tax, either. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Great stay!

Stay started excellently with a really good check-in experience. Friendly, enthusiastic, offered to let me know what I wanted to know. I got exactly the room I asked for (end of corridor). In fact nearly all the staff I met on this 3-night stay were really good to excellent, especially on the check-in counter. One time I got some drinks from the bar and I forgot to ask for the Accor discount and signed it to my room. The guy did think of it though, and re-did the charge, including the discount. Love that.

Let down by the room a bit. Nice, bit dated but not too much. Shower over bath. Big negative was zero accessible power points next to the bed. None. I eventually found one on the skirting board under the bed, but too low for my charger. I called for and got a extension cord - delivered promptly. Criminal that after all these years of 'devices', they haven't installed bed-side power points, let along charging points. Apparently there was supposed to be a bedside clock with some charger, but there wasn't. I didn't follow that up.

Mini bar I at first thought was complimentary as there was no price list, either paper or QR code, but fortunately I asked and it is charged - even the water there. I hadn't noticed the tap water filter machine next to the coffee machine.

Aircon worked OK.

Club Millesime has moved to the ground floor. It was OK. No children after 5pm and smart casual dress code; both waiter service and get your own from a tended bar.

Club buffet spread exactly what you would get in a Qantas Club - just cold cuts, salads, cheese, biscuits, nuts. On the first night I was there there was a 'caviar station' (mostly salmon roe) and some nice (cold) finger food brought around by waiters. It was the first night of Accor 'Explorer', so a bit of a celebration. The other night I went just the buffet and some 'canapes' brought round (mini quiches). Pretty disappointed in the food - nothing hot at any time, and its right next door to the kitchens now.

I parked for 1 night - $50. Plenty of room.

The hotel is right above Central Station, so very easy to the airport and to downtown where I picked up an Avis car.

Club Millesime - just a portion.

Buffet on different nights. Bowls of apples do not a buffet make.
