Just booked HOTP for the first time for a stay in a couple of weeks. HSW was asking $500+ for the night HOTP $320 - Looking forward to see if there is any different to HSW as my last few stays with HSW as Diamond have been quite ordinary...

Room booked: 2 Double Bed Deluxe Room
Rate: USD$160 + taxes per night
Received: King Executive room, 2 bottles of water every day.

This is not a fancy hotel by any means, but the location was OK for this work trip. The lounge has a view of the bay, but they should have built the lounge on the other side so it had a view of the airport in the distance.

Breakfast in the lounge was appallingly bad. Deep fried crunchy bacon, only boiled eggs, and stodgy pastries which were probably from Costco - they weren't crispy and fresh at all!
The only breakfast which was edible was nice fresh fruit, cereal and yoghurt.

I tried breakfast in the restaurant and it was exactly the same, with a few added types of bread for toast, and unappealing Chinese options (congee).

The lounge had no free alcohol - cash bar only.

I have stayed at Embassy Suites across the street before and would rate this slightly higher than that property, although it had free drinks for an hour or two (early) in the courtyard.

I am Hilton Gold, and just booked three nights at the Hilton Sukhumvit, Bangkok in a King Deluxe Room for early next year on a Points and Money reward.

Checked my Estanby options and the first option is a King Executive room for $0

I'm not sure whether to accept that or hope to receive that or a better upgrade on arrival

Has anyone had this experience before?

Property: Hilton Melbourne South Wharf
Booked: King Hilton Executive Room
Received: Relaxation Suite
Stay: 2 nights
HHonors: Diamond

Very pleased with the suite upgrade! The room was on the 12th floor and has amazing views of Melbourne, though I'm a bit on-the-fence about the open-plan bathroom layout.

This hotel was always generous to me with upgrades and in return I keep it as my first choice every time I visit Perth.

Yes, but its hard to know what might have been. I'm always happy with a room upgrade that includes lounge access, so anything I can do to help that along is enough for me. I've pretty much always received an exec upgrade in SE Asia, who knows if the above scenario which I have also had at the Millennium BKK could have turned into a suite?? Really impossible to know.

I too have always received an upgrade in SEA, the best being a suite at the Milllenium BKK.
Think I might just leave it alone and see what happens a few days before our stay or at check in.

Property: Hilton on the Park MEL
Date: 15-18 July
Room booked: Base
Rate: AU$208/AA
Received: King Executive room, 18th floor

Nice upgrade. Originally offered 5th floor but made a face and with good reason (for me at least), I'm a light sleeper and lower floors cause me trouble with street noise. Got to mention that at the moment there is significant building work going on next door with jackhammers and whatnot. This also means that self parking is not currently available, discounted valet only.

Service here is very good as always, but they really should be planning some room refurbs in my view, its feeling pretty old. Aircon struggled with the cold MEL nights and I had to have an oil heater brought up. Per a lot of the older hilton buildings, they suffer from paper thin walls.

I do like the ADL hilton, always a good feel here. Only niggle, which I'll raise with management, is that I can't understand why the exec lounge is physically locked after 11am on weekends (until 5pm). I can understand if they don't want to staff it, as a lot of domestic hiltons, but to lock you out from a coffee or computer use during the day just feels cheap and I can't see the reasoning. HotP for example is hardly ever staffed yet your room key will allow you access at pretty much any time.

Someone else mentioned a few posts ago that they hand out an exec level benefits sheet here when you check in, which I like because each hotels benefits can vary a bit so I like the heads up, however, they mention in bold that breakfasts downstairs cost an extra $25. Per my previous experience at this hotel and others I winged it and took breaky downstairs regardless and wasn't charged ... as I expected being a gold - I'm completely certain that this extra charge is aimed at exec level _non_ status holding guests and I reckon it would be worthwhile either verbally mentioning or having a separate sheet for status holders so that this is clear. Its my only real niggle though.

Are some room's refurbished? I'm staying there next weekend for the first time. Normally stay at HSW but $550+ on a Saturday night is crazy...$319 for HOTP is still a little crazy in my eyes but a man's got to sleep!

I don't believe that any of the rooms have been redone. Perhaps the suite has (?) as it got a name change about a year ago someone with more stays at this hotel might know more.

Yes, HSW must be enjoying good occupancy if their asking rate is anything to go by - been high to ridiculous for ages now.

When I mean refurbished, are the rooms pictured on the website correct? :) I booked King Hilton Deluxe i think it is, it looks ot be a modern room without the maroon carpet.

Rates for next weekend are super high across MEL...even tune hotel is $179!!

It was specifically mentioned to me that full buffet breakfast is free for Golds at checkin. Maybe the checkin clerk just forgot to mention in this instance.

Quoting myself but figured I would just check what HOTP was charging for Government rates.

Relaxation Suite $455 AAA rate

Relaxation Suite $345 Govt Rate

$25 more than a base room on AAA rate. Sometimes I wish I worked in Government.

Being Diamond I have always received the relaxation suite at HOTP.Unless it is near capacity I would be surprised if you did not get the same being Diamond.

As a paid suite @ HoTP.. IME.. I don't find that room very special at all.
