Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

How does the kl DT compare to Westin kl? And maybe the IC?

The KL DT was tops in my ranking:

1: DT
2: Sheraton
3: Hilton
4: St Regis
5: IC

The IC is very average, big rooms but let down by poor staff and an old building.

Thanks. The Westin does not qualify on those rankings? :) Is the DT walkable to pavilion and bukit bintang?

So far, so not so good at HSW on a 4 night stay. The upgrade to an executive room held but that was as far as it went. Checked in at 4.45pm. No water, letter. chockies, nor turn down service on returning to the room at 10.30pm. I've commented to "Magic" and will see what reaction I get tomorrow.

Property: Hilton South Wharf
Date: 20 - 21 Feb February 2013
Rate: $180 (minus 20%)
Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Received: King Yarra Suite

Two bottles of water. No notes, no turn down service etc. It's hard to be definitive but
this property that was so great has definitely gone off the boil. (I didn't think I would ever say that)

Staying at HOTP on Sat night so will do a comparison.

Property: Hilton on the Park
Date: 23 - 24 Feb February 2013
Rate: $186.75 (minus 20%)
Booked: King Hilton Guest Room
Received: King Relaxation Suite

One bottle of water, note from GM and one of two A/Cs not working properly. Self parking is $28 per day but fortunately they don't stick strictly to the 24hr period as I parked at 10am on the 23rd prior to heading to BNE for the day and left the car park at approx 1145 on 24th. Service overall was very good.

I much preferred the KL Hilton for location. found the rooms at DT kind of 'bland' as well. Also the pool at Hilton is much much better and not surrounded by buildings like the DT

Yes, I've noticed in the past that the expiry date/time stamp on the car park ticket is often valid until around 6.00pm on the day of departure.

Property: Hilton Singapore
Date: 27 JAN to 08 FEB 2013 (12nts)
Rate: $315.00++
Booked: King Hilton Deluxe Plus
Received: King Hilton Executive (20th floor, corner room)

Usual GM's welcome letter. Would not have received upgrade had I not linked the reservation to my a/c number before arrival. Corporate travel agent didn't transmit the details as part of the booking, and had to call to make the link as website did its "computer says no" routine. Two colleagues of mine were in that boat, and no upgrades arrived for them.

Water bottles in high supply, usually three a day - and was always one housekeeper who always put an extra 1-2 in my room each night. This housekeeper was worth her weight in gold, as she new exactly how I liked the pillows on the bed, that I preferred the blockout curtains opened, and that I prefer my TV remote as well as a clean glass to be on the bedside table. Even would place one bottle of water and a glass in the mini bar after they picked up I stash one in there.

Only two downsides of the room. 1) Opening the cabinet of the minibar fridge was as if you were stepping into Hades, 2) bathroom layout made it somewhat tight thanks to a fixed hinge door. Would have been better making it a sliding or pocket door to solve this problem.

Exec Lounge did become somewhat crowded in early/mid evening, with having to politely encroach on someone else's area to gain a seat. Fare was more than acceptible, albeit the Agnostura Bitters nowhere to be found hence couldn't make a Lemon, Lime and Bitters.

Staff on property very attentive and prompt, right down to knowing exactly whom was going to join me at breakfast (wasn't hard, it was always my colleague - the guy with dreadlocks - not hard to miss in a place like Singapore) and what drinks I prefer (Hot Chocolate and Orange Juice) without having to ask.

Terrific info. Have you stayed at the Conrad before? If yes, which do you prefer?

No, have not stayed at the Conrad myself. It wasn't on the list of hotels in our companies preferred properties for SIN.

If it could have been considered - would have decided against for this visit.

Main reason was commute. Was travelling to near AMK every day, and the Conrad would have required a train change at Dhoby Ghaut (can be 3-5min depending on which line you're going from/to). Orchard MRT was a short walk from the hotel at grade hence why making that choice.

A location choice was also in part a consideration. One of my party was a first time O/S traveller, so being on Orchard Rd it would give him a good start to the country with easy access to anywhere else he'd want to head to.

Finally, price. Range of hotels our company allows us to pick from is great for SIN, but no negotiated rate for Conrad. Would have been too many hoops to jump through to book there when our highest contract rate for country was SGD298, and prepaid rack rate for an entry level room at Conrad is currently SGD391.

Whats the bet the CSR was getting confused between the 'continental' breakfast offered in the lounge by way of your exec room upgrade, and the 'continental' breakfast offered in the restaurant as part of your HH Gold entitlement? The way I read it nowadays is that as a gold HH in an exec room, its _my_ choice where to have breaky, either inthe lounge or in the restaurant. I usually just turn up in the restaurant and give them my room number, no-one has asked me anything for ages re: continental or full, so I just get seated and go to town :)

at glass in sydney , it seems to be that they look at my room number and then there seems to be a quickening of service , eg teh guy before me waited a while to get seated after checking and I got seated more quickly (based on sample size of 2)

gold only

Nothing at HSW thus far. Received exactly as booked.

Here until Sunday. Let's see if anything happens.

i got exactly what i booked at HSW but to be fair i changed the number of people 3 times . am on a dirt cheap rate and i need 2 beds
Hard to get upgraded to a yarra suite with that!
Although i do miss teh exec longe access!

I had a booking at HSW for tonight, that I had to cancel. I had an upgrade to a Relaxation Suite showing on the booking.

I believe the big difference is probably that it was a one night stay for one person versus a multi night, multi person stay during a busy period.

It will be interesting to see what I get for Saturday night.

Not looking good for me at the HSW. 1st-3rd, King guestroom booked and still showing. Doubt I will get a suite, not even sure about an exec floor at this rate! At least I get lounge access regardless.

Yeah, my 4 night stay at HSW, ending tonight, was to an executive king. Nice room so I'm not complaining. 4 nights probably is outside the limit for a suite upgrade. However, the soft part was disappointing. No water, etc until I commented. Then we literally got 18 waters in 3 days!! Food and drinks in the lounge were ok as previously but the lack of staff was obvious Anyone could have walked in. All up, met my needs but, hmmm, 3.5 stars!

Check in staff at HH dedicated desk were very welcoming with gorgeous flowers & welcome drinks. All of the resort facilities were explained well by Carla & was escorted to renovated room in Lotus Wing.
Fantastic view from room with king bed & offered the Panorama executive lounge delights on 12th floor with decadent drink menu & canapes.
Choice of 3 restaurants for breakfast.
Personalised gift & personalised sincere signature note from GM.
Welcome fruit platter.
Was contacted by guest relations around 4 times to make sure I was comfortable & everything was in order.
Overall a wonderful stay in a not so modern though fantastic & well maintained property, with impeccable all round service.

HSW rates - Call for advice please - when I see posts about stays at HSW, the rates paid are always way below those I can find. What is the trick? Govt rate is high and not sure of the source of these rates. Are they simply corporate negotiated rates specific to corp accounts or is there a 'special' way to book and get these sub-$200 rates?? I am HH diamond so should be worth it - notwithstanding the evident drop in standards articulated herein........
Any advice gratefully received.
