Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

I've never been asked to show mine, but having a physical card when I checked into the Conrad in Bali would have been useful. When checking in they didn't offer me any upgrade initially and made no mention of use of the EL there. When I asked about the EL they said only for people staying in the suites wing. When I pushed that as a diamond I should have access, they weren't aware that I was diamond. They had mu HH number on file but not that I was diamond. I showed them the app (after stuffing around for a bit). If I just had a physical card it would have saved time and hassle. In the end they apologised and I received an upgrade to a suite in the suites wing. All is well that ends well, but a card would have been good then.

I'v always wanted to give the HH card + my CC when checking in - as they check that my HH number is in the booking, which then usually triggers them to give me the spiel about upgrade + benefits.

I've got 4 nights in 2 stays at HSW in January - you bet I want a Suite as a Diamond and repeat guest at the property.

I became diamond earlier in the year and asked for a physical card. Told they'd post it after the second stay but haven't received one yet. I called them up on the back of this thread. Promised to post one out - I'll report back if I get one. In the meantime they've sent me two emails confirming I'm diamond which I already know.

I also don't have a physical card so I just tell them I'm Diamond when I check in.

The space bar isn't working again for reply with quote - annoying.....

I've always received my card and always show it on check-in (+ CC unless I've done the online check-in). I do it just to save having to spell my surname every time. Handy to have in case status is ever questioned but thankfully that's never happened to me.

I always show my Diamond card during check in so they immediately know my status.

I used to try this, but was always waved off, and no-one at check-in would ever look at it, usually with a response along the lines of them already having my profile on file. In the end, I gave up and don't try to show it anymore.

I have previously used the on-line card request in my HHonors account. After quite a few requests, a card may turn up. Just keep requesting, and requesting, on-line:

My Account>Go to my account page>My HHonors card>Looking for a card to be mailed to you>Submit.

BNE Thursday night
booked government rate cheapest room..upgraded to exec floor

didn't get a chance to try the lounge that evening but breakfast was pleasant...lounge and hotel very quiet though...

You prompted me to look at my Diamond card. It expired 03/2014! I've not had a replacement though I've maintained the status each year and I've been handing that one across on check-in ever since to get them to notice status. There has been no comment so I guess anything will do.

same here - didn't realise it had expired!

Property: Hilton Sydney
Status: Diamond
Date: December 2016
Rate: Flash Sale rate
Booked: King Hilton Executive Room
Received: King Hilton Executive Room

Was given the standard Diamond benefit list, no comment about room or upgrade. I requested a 3pm checkout which was granted easily. Didn't enquire about an upgrade.
Charged a coffee tax of $5 at breakfast. I mentioned to charge it to my room at breakfast though, I was relying on it to hit the $300 amex promotion!
0/2 for suite upgrades for me.

I also requested a physical card online, and also received an email telling my that I'm Diamond. We'll see if the card turns up.

I was more focused on getting the late check out. That was more important. From reading the stories on here, speaking up would not have changed anything.

Maybe I can think of a way to frame it in providing feedback to get some bonus points haha. Apart from not getting an upgrade, everything else was fine with the stay.

Definitely worth saying something and challenging that when you're standing there checking in.

did you check in downstairs or up in the EL??? seems that checking in the EL improves your chances of an upgrade etc

If it was a friday or saturday an upgrade from an exec room is not always guaranteed and if a late checkout was more important 3pm was likely granted easily due to the lack of upgrade.
