Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

As a Diamond staying there from the 17-21 October, I was offered a choice of breakfast in the lounge or restaurant.

While there seemed to be pricing in the lounge for a la carte items, there certainly wasn't a charge in the restaurant for the omelettes that I ordered.

An excellent hotel. I'm just disappointed that I only discovered the excellent afternoon tea that's provided in the lounge on my last day!

Interesting - wonder why I was denied an omelette.

What was the afternoon tea like? Unfortunately I had to leave at 3 to catch my flight.

I do recall seeing a menu in the lounge where items like pancakes etc were available at approx £10 or so.

Hilton Adelaide
Dates 29 Oct to 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Nov
Status: Diamond
Booked: two separate bookings over three nights, lowest category
Received: Corner Executive Room level 17.

I emailed the Hotel a few weeks before and asked them to join the two stays together. Second email back I was informed we had been upgraded to an executive room, over a week out.
Chose a corner room online to make sure we would get one.
At checkin I was greeted with the comment, so you’re staying with us for one night.
I explained the situation, and asked if there were any Junior Suite upgrades. After about 5 minutes I enquired if there was a problem, to be told that it was difficult to join the two bookings together. So much for my emails.
A few minutes later also told no upgrades available, but at least received the room I had booked online.
The corner room was good, if a bit old.
Food and drink were fine in the lounge, but at breakfast all the staff seemed to be rushed, and I couldn’t seem to get the juice machine to work right, kept spilling. Dreaded coffee tax still around.

How odd. Did you order the omelette in the lounge or restaurant?

A couple of snaps of the afternoon tea: https://goo.gl/photos/8iDubbsGRhsHVx8u6

They had delicious scones with jam and cream, assorted cakes, and lovely fresh sandwiches - along with a large selection of teas.

I'm a sucker for afternoon tea especially scones, jam and clotted cream!

I've stayed there quite a few times (St James). There was a £5 supplement for room service breakfast for Diamonds. Hope they still do it. My favourite dish is the Omelette Arnold Bennett

They do as of two weeks ago. £3.50 tray charge but that's all.

I didn't do it though. I was on holidays so got up when I was good and ready rather than needing to decide on a time for breakfast delivery :)

I don't normally either but it's handy for an early Chauffeur pick up to LHR :)

HSW

Dates 2-3 November

Status Diamond

Booked. Standard Queen ($240)

Received. King

Haven't felt any real upgrade love here for a while despite availability showing across all higher room types when I checked in at 10pm last night.

I suggested in the restaurant that I forgo my diamond breakfast in exchange for a take away coffee. This was declined and I was advised would cost me $3 for the coffee. Left without either.

My 30th Hilton stay for the year left me feeling somewhat flat towards the program.

Property: DT MEL
Booked: King Room

Was told at check-in hotel is heavily booked and no higher category rooms available. Quick check on the app showed the information was indeed correct.
At least was allocated in one of the HHonors floors, which basically means there are coffee machines in those rooms. For some reason bottles of water at DT are only given at turndown service. Reception will give some at check-in by request.

Diamonds are now offered full buffet breakfast, a welcomed and long overdue enhancement considering that HSW offer their much better buffet complementary since they opened.

How was the rate?

Received: Relaxation Suite
Usual upgrade wasn't showing on OLCI even 30 mins before arrival. I was getting ready to stir them up when I arrived but was allocated the usual suite without asking. Staff was very apologetic about the new coffee tax but got slugged $3 like everyone else.

That is good news. Was there a coffee tax?

And that isn't. Particularly as you are a regular.
