Off thread topic, but Flashback, care to share your restaurants? I'm in Berlin for a few days in October staying at Berlin Hilton. Thanks.

Imbiss W is one, 1 stop or so from Alexanderplatz. Can get there on the U2 line from Stadtmitte.

Gold or Diamond?

Hi Flashback,

Hilton Gold, no exec lounge here though :-(
Excellent breakfast spread, with decent variety of Asian options considering an Australian hotel.
Nice warm outdoor heated pool, and decent well equipped small gym.

Hilton Surfers Paradise (special occasion – anniversary)
1 night stay $249 (Great Getaway)
Booked King Hilton Executive
Got Twin Hilton Executive (Wife was not happy)
Had to speak to Duty Manager who was not at all helpful or apologetic – he said "I’ll have someone up to your room soon to zip up the beds”. And that’s what they did.
Just come back from European holiday mostly staying at Hiltons (eleven in total) – Surfers Paradise Hilton would rate bottom of the list.
Last time for me at this Hilton.

Your anniversary and they gave you a twin!

Did you discretely let them know about the special occasion? If so, any surprise? The few times we've had special occasions there, a bottle of bubbly has been left with a nice card.

Sorry to hear it was a disappointing stay.

No they didn't know and no 'Surprises' apart from walking into the room and seeing the twin beds...:(

Date: 29th Aug - 1st Sep
Booked: Queen Guest Room Great Getaway $288
Received: King Deluxe Plus

First stay at this hotel and was quite happy overall with it. Ye Olde Worlde decor not to my taste but the suite was massive and reasonably quiet.
Very cute amenity gift in my room on arrival, it was my birthday and there was a full size bottle of bubbly on ice with a mini red bottle, choccies, fruit and a handwritten card.
Great location and would be happy to return.

I believe you were there for a particular teaching reason. A pity - I was asked to do it, and then they cancelled me as they found a local instructor. We could have been teaching on the same course!

Correct, that's a shame as we had a big night Fri with TheWinchester, Bundy Bear and Emily Howard :(
There is no truth whatsoever to the rumour that I slept in the next day and turned up 5 minutes prior to the commencement of the Initial Assessment Scenarios ;)

So many kind words I have to say about this hotel. The front desk service was great and the concierge very helpful. The room was large, bathroom spacious and balcony is always a nice bonus.
This hotel has style, I loved the lobby, the lifts, the decor, all very nice.
The breakfast at the restaurant was great. Very good selection of Asian food and the staff were all very nice all the time. My eggs Benedict were made to perfection and my missus loved her omelette as well.
When I asked for a late checkout I got the answer: what time did you have in mind sir? That's exactly the kind of answers I like to get :)

If I must point one fault, it will be the lack of an executive lounge. It didn't bother us at all because we don't come to Perth very often and we were more then happy to catch up with old friends and try the local restaurants.
All in all, we had a perfect stay and can't wait for the next visit.

Thanks for the reports. Maybe I need to put this hotel back on my list.

One question that does pop up when I look at both of your bookings, is that you both had very similar bookings....both diamond, same hotel, same dates, same booked room, similar upgrade, yet boomy received a much better rate (a fabulous rate given it's Perth). May I ask boomy, what the rate basis was (sale, AAA etc) and was it last minute or plenty of advance notice?

BTW.......Happy Birthday Princess Fiona!

I'm staying at Hilton Parmelia in early October at a rate close to boomy's so I'll report back. I'm only Gold though.

So did I just miss a PER meetup or something. Seems like everyone was here this weekend!
On 3 stays at the Parmelia I haven't yet been upgraded as a diamond, so it is good to see others getting something at least.
