Just thought I'd create a thread for this - looking back over the last year, I thought I'd done a thread here as well as on Priority Club.

I'm a Gold member.

Thursday, 9 July
Property: Hilton Adelaide
Room booked: King Room

Saturday, 11 July
Property: Hilton Brisbane
Room booked: King Room
Rate: Met Package (birthday present for Mrs LW, included 2 buffet breakfasts at Atrium Cafe & 2 tickets to Qld Art Gallery for Impressionists Showing from Metropolitan Museum New York - to get some culture)
Received: Upgrade to Exec Floor, card from GM and the obligatory 2 free water bottles

Got some more travel to do to Melbourne this Friday, so hoping to fly down Thursday night to sample the new Hilton.

Right, I've booked a room at Hilton Perth for $133 (AAA rate) - I still have a few 20% off cards laying around (best dig them out...), that I can hopefully activate and reduce that to $106.40 (61 GBP). Given I have a 2 night stay coming up at the Conrad... is 60 GBP really worth doing?

You beat me to it!

... and, this has now been approved by the minister of finance, so we are good to go.

O/T. Just wondering if any Macquarie card holder will be in Syd Hilton this Saturday? Thinking of booking a king suite and the 20% off might come in handy. Hoping hoping.

Received: Queen Deluxe Plus (room 1005)

After dropping my bags and checking it out, it became my new favourite room!! I find the King Suites just too big for me (the double lounge room is overkill for me when by myself) so I mentioned it at check-out the next day (she was on shift again) and she noted it in my booking notes!

Photos to come

I had the King Deluxe Plus... to quote a particular member of AFF, I suppose the difference between our two rooms are: one is so big you can perform a ritual sacrifice in, the other you can perform two simultaneous ritual sacrifices in :p (I could use the other description he proffered, but that's a bit too sordid for this forum)

I won't mention his other quote of a bed being so big with so many pillows he could build a little fort to fend of an army of little kids with a nerf gun. :p

My new favourite - normally I'd have selected a King and as anat0l described above - it's too big

Next time they offer you the King as an upgrade, let them know I'll take it off your hands for you!

Is that suite at the SYD Hilton? It looks a very different decor to the King suite......almost a bit dated in style.

They'll now only offer me the King room upgrades if either of my preferred (queen) rooms are not available - or if I've booked a King (say Mrs QF WP is with me)

No, Perth Parmelia room 1005 - see post #2588 above. I'll post photo of the SYD room (Suite?) I get on 6th Sept

Property: Hampton by Hilton Berlin City West
Date: August 12-15
Booked: Queen Room (98Euro avg)
Received: Queen Garden View (descibed as a 'nice upgrade' but really, not like an ocean view or anything :p)

Nice enough hotel, first time at a Hampton. Staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was pretty good, although they kept running out of everything. No exec lounge.

Property: Hilton Berlin
Date: August 16
Booked: KING HILTON GUESTROOM
Received: KING HILTON GUESTROOM PLUS (Gendarmenmarkt view)

A lot more impersonal than the Hampton, nicer property obviously. Great views and good location. Didn't get an Exec floor upgrade.

Property: Hilton London Kensington hotel
Date: August 17
Booked: Twin Hilton Guest Room
Received: Twin Hilton Guest Room (No upgrade, but free breakfast offered)

Weird and rundown property. Decent locateion, decent breakfast but overall a bit pricey for what I got at 159GBP

Property: Hilton Athens
Date: August 24
Booked: KING EXECUTIVE ACROPOLIS
Received: KING EXECUTIVE ACROPOLIS ?? (although bI was told this was an upgrade but I'm struggling to figure out how maybe an Exec PLUS? I can't see what extra the EXEC PLUS gets)

Very nice property with great views and a good location. Decent enough Exec lounge but I missed the "happy hour" as my flight was delayed so only nuts and soft drinks/coffee/tea available after that.

Yes, but the question is: Do you plan to spend more time in the bathroom, or in the bed?

Luckily I'm not attached or have a spouse, but you do know many women prefer to have a larger bathroom? :) (Albeit with two sinks rather than just one).

Indeed! The rumour mill has it that some ladies extend this preference for quantity over quality to men with larger feet...

(and of course I am not saying men are not immune to this gluttony bias; there will always be some who judge their hotel room by the size of the balcony... ;) )

Consecutive multi-day bookings vs Single booking for upgrades

Considering emailing the diamond address to combine 3 separate bookings (5 consecutive nights total, 3 nights rewards and 2 paid at getaway rate) I have in Thailand coming up however from detailed reading here and my own upgrade experiences in Australia here perhaps thinking leaving the shorter stays as is may increase my chances? As many of you mention longer single booking stays seem to have a lower chance and understandably so. Love to know your thoughts in general, thankyou in advance

For HOTP and HSW I have had both stays upgraded to a suite for a two weeks stay. That said I did spend around 30 days at each hotel last year.

Excellent, will definitely do another trip back then. There's a few restaurants in town I want to try out also that we weren't able to this trip.

Off thread topic, but Flashback, care to share your restaurants? I'm in Berlin for a few days in October staying at Berlin Hilton. Thanks.
