We fly to Heathrow and arrive in the evening and need a hotel or B & B as near to the airport as possible. Does anyone have one they can recommend?
Thankyou

We have stayed many times at the Crowne Plaza which is easily accessible by the Hoppa Bus...If you check online they have some great specials from around 59 GBP which is great value and the rooms are very clean with king size beds and fluffy pillows and the shower has great pressure and is hot...Breakfast is also well done and a good add on if you have time or cannot go the the BA lounge

Which terminal are you arriving into?

For closest

If arriving at T5, there is a Sofitel attached
if arriving at T4, there is a Hilton attached

If arriving at T1,2,3 then there are no hotels actually attached to the terminal and will require to exit the airport. I would recommend a hotel on Bath Road ; that way you are not tied to the overpriced Hoppa service and can just hop on a normal red bus for free to get back to the airport. The Marriott is quite nicely located and has a normal bus stop just outside the hotel

The Heathrow linked hotels are excessively expensive and for me waiting for a bus which can sometimes be over half an hour especially after a long haul flight is a waste of time...A cab will cost the same as the Hoppa and you can be at the Hotel 15 minutes after exiting the terminal

Dave Noble is spot on with his info. We stayed at the Marriot (Heathrow and not Windsor) on Bath Rd and caught the normal bus which stops almost in front of this hotel. The Marriot was modern and quite comfortable. For the return journey we caught a cab to T4.

This website has a range of hotels and prices as well as info on the buses. Just click on Hoppa buses link and it will show the free local bus info.
The buses leave from Heathrow Central (T1,2,3) and T5. For T4 you need to use the Heathrow Connect.

As part of our upcoming first ever DONE4 one segment has us arriving into LHR T5 and leaving the next morning from T4. We have booked into Hilton Heathrow because we figured being able to walk to T4 in the morning would allow some extra sleep time.

Having never been to LHR before I have been searching the T5 website on the best way to get from there to the T4 Hilton on our arrival. I believe there is a tranfer bus but could anyone confirm. We would happily take a cab but not sure how their cabbies react to short trips.

At heathrow the cabs are used to short runs inter terminal and to the Hilton. You won't have any dramas. I was based in London for years and as much as I hate LHR the Hilton there is actually very good and I'm not a huge fan of Hiltons generally.

Heathrow Express runs between T5 and Heathrow Central (T1/2/3) and Heathrow Connect runs between T4 and Heathrow Central (T1/2/3) for free land-side connections.

Also, there are standard "London" buses that transport PAX betwixt T4 and T5; We used them in June to get from T4 to/from T5

They run every ¼ hour from around 6am-7pm, less frequently outside those hours. The trips can take about 20 minutes with several stops along the way.

More here:

Could also try Yotel at T4. Standard room might be a bit cramped for a couple but the bigger room looks adequate.

A good option if it's only overnight waiting for connecting flight etc.

When I was looking at booking it recently, I was informed by them that they have a shuttle between Hilton and T5; you might like to give them a call and check
