I know this thread has been 'overdone".. Though I have have a vested interest in updates..:)
Heading up to HKG next month after Macau, where have sorted the hotels, though after will be heading to HKG for few days for trade fairs at HKG Convention Centre & Asia World-Expo.
Would be interested to have any updates on quality hotel recommendations.
I have an inclining towards Conrad on Island/ or Ritz Carlton, though at = $550 & $1,000 per night quotes respectively just doesn't justify.
Would prefer to reside in TST or Central.
IMO HKG accommodation rates have increased an av. of 25% p.a over the past few years.
Just would like to hear of alternate ideas of quality hotels to satisfy my existence & accountant, whilst in HKG..
Over to you..

Moderate quality (small rooms) but quite nice, and literally just opened.

Ibis Central and Sheung Wan... - Ignore the Central part - is four blocks west of sheung wan, two blocks west of western market.
However trolley trams and buses outside front door make it very easy to get into Central.

Opening rates are very good and whilst petite rooms were pretty decent.

Thanks.. Will check those out :D

I know you said prefer Central but I'll mention Metropark Causeway Bay (~4 stations, 10 minutes from Central) as a very nice and relatively reasonably priced place to stay. We stayed in an Executive Parlor Room (~same size as Executive suite, but all in one room rather than split into two). Exec lounge access (have breakfast downstairs would be a better idea) and a great view from one of the top floors. The only minor downer (not important for us) was a coughpy old-style TV (though that was 2007, may have changed). Exec Parlour room currently priced at around AUD330 per night all in for some randon dates in October. There are probably equally suitable choices in Central too, but this the only one I've stayed at (bar Airport Novotel).

It's deffo not Conrad or Ritz Carlton, but pretty nice nonetheless.

Cheers... Had a quick look.. Nice @ HKD 3580/4274.. per night.

Still open for options.. Have stayed at varied HKG hotels over the years.. though happy to opt up for location & facilities.. 2012!

Langham Place in Mongkok. Fabulous hotel for the price

Stayed here last year. Regardless of price, will stay there again. Loved being attached to the shopping cebtre with all the food court and close to the train station.

Starting to tick the boxes here.. I'm looking at the suite room..

If you decide to stay in Mongkok make sure you eat at Tim Ho Wan "Michelin 1 star" Dim Sum restaurant.

We ate there last night & really enjoyed our World famous cuisine for around $13 for 4 people:D

It's walking distance from the Langham & you get to enjoy the Ladies market one way & the electronics market on the way back.

If you're coming from the Island it's very easy on the MRT.....drops you at the Langham.

I am staying at the Conrad in November for about $280 per night (corporate) but I am sure I saw some rooms for just over $300 per night on Hilton website (HK$2350 plus tax)

Sorry my bad this is the Government rate (which I can access)

Note there are now three branches of Tim Ho Wan.
Including one at Central MTR, one floor below main level.

Hi Jetlagger,
This time last year I was staying at East Hotel, Tai Koo. Loved it. Very functional, very funky. Had a real vibe to it. Young but professional, engaging staff. We used their limousine from the airport and that set the scene for a great week. Located above the Tai Koo station and linked to a major shopping centre and expansive (note, NOT expensive) food court. Close to the convention centre. We booked a harbour view room (a must!). Looked across to the old Kai Tak with a continually changng vista on the harbour throughout the morning, afternnon and night. It is in the top 10% on Trip Advisor and rates 4.5 stars. As rates vary I wil leave that to your investiigation. Woulld reaily stay there again.

Sherton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers is expensive but worth it, right near Kowloon
