Hi Everyone

Just a quick question, I have booked my parents a CX Hkg-Bkk in J and was wondering which of Cathays lounges are best, Wing or Pier? Particularly in regards to food?

Thanks

Ann

Facilities are basically the same. Use the lounge closest to the departure gate. Its a long walk from The Wing to the lounges out near The Pier.

Both Lounges are very good... My preference is the Pier... The food and drink in the lounge is very good. Far better than the QF lounge in HKG.

But as NM said, best to go to the lounge closest to the required gate. It is a trek to get from gate 2 to gate 66 (where the two lounges are located).

Sadly CX don't concentrate their flights in a particular areas like QF do, quite possibly as they have so many, but they can literally be anywhere in the airport.

The Business class lounge in the Wing has a chef in a noodle bar, whereas the First class lounge in the Pier (near Gate 67) has a nice buffet, and table service for drinks and so on. The lounge has great big bathrooms.

There are noodle bars in both J lounges, the Wing and the Pier.

Take you pick from the menu (4-6 options) and order. They'll give you a small black device, take this away. When your noodle bowl is ready the device has lights that will flash . Take the device to the counter and trade for your bowl of noodles etc.

Are there no noodles in the First class lounge? The J lounge noodles are great. One of my main motivators in getting to Platinum was aceess to the HKG Cathay first class lounge as the QP in HKG is looking very tired. Unfortunately, since reaching platinum I haven't been back!

I have not yet been to the HKG F lounges. Give me a week though, and I will have :D

The rumour I hear, is that although there is no Noodle bar in the F lounges, you can ask the staff for what you want and they will get it from the J lounge.

Failing that, just chat to the friendly door person and wander over to the J lounge for a few mins to order what you want and then return...

There are noodles in F lounge, at least in the Pier. Not sure where they got them from as I simply asked for some, had a quick shower, and they were served at my chair a minute later.

If you're lucky enough to have access to F lounges, go the Pier if you have time to kill. They have indiviudual "rooms" where you can set yourself up for a few hours - be it to work or watch AVOD in the lounge in a comfy chair.

While they both have great showers, The Wing has a cabana style facility as well as access to an Elimis Day Spa should you need a massage, facial or simply need a manicure...or not.

The facilities are simply the best in the world.

Man, that is a quick shower. I wish my 13yo knew how to take a 1 minute shower :p .

The noodles in Taipei are just as good. As for HKG, I miss the whiskey bar at the bottom end that was also the smoking bar, it pretty much ahd any whiskey you could ask for but times have changed.

Agree the HK QF lounge sucks - F does not have its own facilities and the shower ques can get long.
