HKG new lounge open

I actually quite like The Wing. The leather seats are comfy, the wait staff superb and the food is ok.
The Cabanas are outstanding.

I love the Wing too, probably my fav HKG lounge.
Haven't used the Cabanas yet, are they for anyone, or only F pax?

why would I be doing that. I have my own particular tastes. As I've stated many times, I'm not a lounge person period. I hate airports. It has to be pretty well outstanding for me to sit in the stupid things. I would rather spend my time outside of airports. Spend too much times in airports as it is to be a lounge junkie. Even the first class lounge in Sydney, 30min is enough for me.

SOME people on AFF do stray into poking fun mode :)oops: ) , but obviously not you. OK, fair 'nuf. So it was more in terms of "CX Wing Lounge is rubbish, in that all lounges are rubbish to have to be in" rather than the quality of the experience in the Wing amongst the spectrum of airport lounges generally (except for QF F in SYD which is OK for 30 mins).

I found it.

I won't be here long as I'm on CX but just a taster.

Nicely placed trolley. Not sure how it got there though.

And any Haagan Dazs or do I have to bring them in from the CX lounge? (Wonder if staff from The Wing would do deliveries for ice cream).

Lovely view

Just arriving.

Verdict.

I really like the ambience. It is light and airy and has a more spacious feel than Singapore. Easier to get away from the hordes.

The staff are delightful and extremely helpful.

The food for me is good - I like spicy and fresh but it also has traditional. I'm not trying sweets but there's no creme brûlée. :p

The single seats seem to have USB chargers. I'm all charged up so no need to check. Nice background music. Several large TVs.

Lots of separate seating areas so you don't feel part of a crowd.

I think most will enjoy it.

I'll just check the butter. Can't see Haagen Daz. The staff here already think I'm a little crazy taking all these photos. ;)

I like the placement of the single seats along the balcony edge with backs turned away from the main area. Very pleasant for single travellers.

Staff at the front were going to take the CX lounge invitation but asked for it back. :D

You found Wing F rubbish? Really?
Not quite rubbish but it is very boring.

I can spend ~10-15 minutes in restaurant and then ~10-15 minutes catching up on emails. Then I am bored.

Not everyone is impressed by a champagne bar or cabanas when they are travelling. To each their own.

I'm now in J Wing and it's just nowhere near as nice after QP. All squashed in. Few seats to be found. Just noisier and food selections not there. Staff nowhere near as friendly. But they do have Lurpak. Of course I'm unable to go into F Wing.

As I walked out on QP I took more in. The circular food tables (not working when I was there) look lovely. So many quiet separate areas.

I'd have stayed in the QP if I'd known what Wing was like.

Cheers for the report. I'm sure everyone here appreciates it.

I'm surprised there haven't been more reports. I did need to backtrack a little as the lift on 6 near Gate 15 is closed and only goes down. The new QP is on level 7. The signage hasn't been updated yet in the airport so a little confusing.

Did you go to J Wing upstairs? I think there is plenty of room & food up there. Downstairs is pretty coughpy and the staff never told me there was J section upstairs until I asked.

I visited F last month and spent an hour in the Cabana taking a bath & relaxing. That was really good. I like both J and F there.

I'm fascinated by these comments.

1) A lounge being 'boring' (and 'very boring' in the case of The Wing F). What would make it 'not boring'? Jugglers? Flame eaters? Donkey rides? There are seats, a restaurant, a bar, showers, TVs, internet and a small library. What need they do to keep your interest up in an airport lounge? How about (to quote Basil Fawlty) Krakatoa erupting on the horizon?

2) And about not being 'impressed by champagne bars or cabanas'. I use a cabana to have a shower (or a bath if I'm so minded) and I use a champagne bar to have a glass or two of champagne; if they manage those, I'm happy. What else do these facilities need to offer to impress you?

Sure, each to their own, but those who express 'boredom' or 'rubbish' with respect to an airport lounge which on any objective measure is one of the better ones around the globe just strikes me as a bit of self absorption.

Would waiters delivering food and bev while riding on unicycles get them over the line?

I think JK would like a driving range and putting green to keep him occupied.
Throw in a practice bunker and he'd miss his flight:cool:
