Like it or loathe it, Melbourne is regarded as the cosmopolitan hub of Australia so I'd argue the city could support both a Hilton and a Conrad. The DT is an embarrassment in my books, but hey, if it's busy enough for them, why not. Contrary to that argument though, is Sydney, Australia's premier city (well according to Sydneysiders

) which is poorly serviced by one old and inadequate Hilton yet Darwin and Cairns sport multi choices for the brand (and do so rather well for the size of those cities).
Is it just me, or does AUD230m sound a bit too cheap for a relatively new, modern, large and well patronised accommodation house on absolute waterfront, very close to the CBD and smack bang on top of an entertainment centre, including I assume, what must be a management buyout as well?
