Hilton SW (MEL) will be rebranded to Pan Pacific from May 31 [now July 27]

I have now had a chat to the HSW GM Craig, who has suggested that HH might have to build* a hotel to meet HH's property requirements. I think there was a bit of discussion upthread suggesting this based on the lack of suitable properties in MEL. So I guess that puts it a couple of years away before we see bums in beds.

*build = encourage a developer to build, for HH to lease.

I was thinking that there are few hotels in Melbourne really suitable to be rebadged as Hilton. As for hotels being built currently a lot are along the apartment style, or already have a committed operator. So Hilton may well have to work on a new build to meet their requirements.
Could well be a wait of 2 or 3 years. And I would think they want one with an Executive Lounge! Or members here do.:)

I would be concerned about getting any Honors credit if checking out on the 28th.

I shot HSW an email and received the following reply:

"Good Afternoon Fifa,

Thank you for contacting us.

We have you booked one night for the 27[SUP]th[/SUP] July.

As you know, the hotel is going to be rebranded from the 28[SUP]th[/SUP] July, your stay will not be impacted.

You will still be able to receive the HHonors benefit and points for the one night.

Kind Regards,"

Good news. I had also sent that qn to the GM, so you have beat me to it.

Further to Fifa's email, the GM has replied suggesting that if check-in is before 6pm on the 27th then all will be well. If it after 6pm then a manual workaround may be required.

It sounds like that is when the HH system is starting to be wound down for the changeover.

Must be a logistical nightmare. I wonder if all staff drop their gear at midnight and don the new uniforms?

The great demise of HSW has well and truly commenced with the Hilton sign removed from the building :(

In the lounge now. The new owners are discussing the takeover.

Sounds like they are going to be doing "minor refurbishments" floor by floor starting from next week. This will mainly involve replacing some of the furniture that they find "dreadful" especially in the suites. And also brightening up the corridors.

They are also planning on creating a roof-top bar, which could be nice.

I am also in the lounge. Striped long sleeve top, jeans, drinking white wine in the corner straight ahead from the entry door.

P.S. Belated welcome to AFF!

Very cool you're both there at the same time without any planning :).

No, actual rooftop as I understand it (Rush told me couple of months ago there was space, facing the city, which was the plan). Bit hard to call a bar on floor 4 of a 19 storey building a rooftop bar, I'd have thought, though it is a possibility I guess.

Depends upon which roof! If built off the lounge there is the roof area. I could never understand the short-sightedness of the owners in not making that big ugly roof area a lovely pool zone with sweeping river and city views. That would have made that property so much more desirable for many people.
