We have corporate rate of $225 at HSW. Can't get tomorrow night but can get every other night for about 10 days...

The problem with prepaid is that it can be hard work getting the HPC 20% discount back.
Never failed, although after some issues in the past, I have a regime these days to avoid that type of problem (.pdf of before and after purchase screens and printouts of initial purchase email receipt).

HSW in June. 2 rooms for 5 nights @ $199 + 1.5%. (although it is my first try of a Gov't rate).

Drinking Ambience on the Executive Lounge Terrace and Crown Casino Fire Show lights up the night (and the Yarra River).

I stayed for the first time at HSW in late Jan. $199 per night for three nights. Got upgraded to a suite as Diamond. Wow. Absolutely huge. Hotel impressive and exec lounge fantastic. I will be back.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

HSW 20th-22nd July
Booked King Yarra Suite Govt Rate
Received King Yarra Suite
Advised at check-in we had been upgraded to KYS

I think that check-in staff see KYS in the booking and you're Diamond, it's due to an upgrade rather than due to you paying for it!

That's lazyness on their part, they only need to click a button to see full details / history of the booking as well as with any special requests.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

This was one of my only gripes (and a very minor one at that) with HSW as well. Booked 2 bedroom bay view suite, advised on check-in I had been upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite like it was a real coup for us!! I then had to ask which one.......bay view or city view. (it turned out to be a city view, which was an upgrade and I was pleased with that).

Seems to be a bit of a trend with HSW to advise of upgrades without checking the original booking. I did note this in my (predominently) positive feedback to the management. A reply said they untook "staff training" to correct the issue. Maybe not.

All in all though, I do believe HSW represents a very enjoyable stay.

I agree and am enjoying my many stays recently - my only gripe is that the Exec kounge is too big. It feels like a QP rather than an Exec lounge. My benchmark is the Conrad in HKG which is about the same size as HOTP and has the same exclusive feel. HSW has the risk of being invaded by larger groups as well...

Yes, I agree with this.

When I hear that the extra big lounge was built instead of a swimming pool at HSW I just roll my eyes. Why not a smaller more intimate lounge _and_ build a nice small pool?

Apparantly that rumour is untrue. I dislike divulging content of private emails, but I don't think this is a breach of confidentiality and is from a nice reply I received from HSW in response to my feedback (in which I noted my thought that the lack of a pool was a bit strange for a newish luxury hotel)

On the subject of the pool and spa, we have never advertised to offer these facilities. Not having them was a business decision which our owners and Hilton made during the planning stages. And the rumour about the Pool being at the site of the Executive Lounge is untrue.

Not exactly what my understanding of what the rumour suggested (the rumour as best as I recollect suggested it was a choice between big lounge and pool.....not necessarily in the same spot).........but addresses it none the less.

This just might be why I like the Hilton Sydney lounge a bit better. Smaller, dived into sectons I guess and service at the bar rather than a help yourself but in any case, HSW certainly doesn't "rub me the wrong way".

If you're adverse to the lounge being invaded by large groups, I'd say you're very lucky you weren't at HSP a few weeks back on a Saturday evening.......the lounge was definitely overrun by a loud group of larrikins apparantly from a certain frequent flyer forum .

The information was within a post by a member who is an employee of HSW.

Someone has been mislead!

I think it was a choice between the gigantic Executive Lounge and a pool, and due to the "market segment" the hotel is aimed at, they went with the Lounge...

This will happen to HSW in December, too!

Yes and I guess it doesn't really matter. The fact of no pool, spa and sauna remains the reality.

The email I quoted was from the guest relations manager (who knows......it may be the same person as SWinsider :D)

I don't think the reply from HSW is inconsistent with the view that is was a choice between a large lounge and a pool.

Either way, it was a business decision (obviously), just the choice between the lounge and pool just puts some detail on what the business decision was about.

Yeah, very true and either way, we don't get a pool when we stay at HSW (my next visit is December.........SUMMER in stinking hot MEL ;))
