My experience with Macquarie has been so far so good. Applied for the card on 17 Nov, got email asking for payslip, sent it within 5 mins, then received my card on 25 Nov. Looking forward to keeping my Hhonors Gold post March 2015.

Following on from straitman's post above re: higher initial credit limits, may I ask what limit you applied for (and received)?

I think I was requesting for a $10,000 limit. No recent credit card applications (within the last 3 years) and perfect payment history. Seven figure income, to boot. I do have significant gearing with investment and margin loans, but all within very conservative tolerances, and have substantial equity to back it up.

I was gob-smacked to receive the letter saying I didn't meet their "minimum requirements". Anyways, I eventually saw the funny side of that, and simply moved on.

Every business has their target customer. You likely exceeded the range they are looking for and therefore rejected. This is a case where you need to dumb it down to an 'average person' with 1 house and a low ball 6 figure income with no crazy leveraging.

Its like you're a seasoned exec applying for burger flipper position at McDonalds.

Didn't put down any credit limit and received $15,xx_ with five figure salary and four figure other income.

I didn't put down a credit limit and was only given $3,500.00 Need to top up my card every few days. At least I am now gold and am enjoying an upgrade with lounge access

For those with the card, when you login to Hilton Hhonors, does it show that you're a cardholder, or just the standard account screen? I'm got Gold until March 2015 as I'm curious what happens after. Will it automatically continue?

My first month with the card is not up yet, so I can't see any points going across Hilton Hhonors and not sure if the Hilton Hhonors membership number has been linked correctly.

we've only had ours a few months and it's worked seamlessly for us. points go across automatically and i've just become a diamond. Thanks Macquarie. Had one small issue early on, but it was sorted quickly over the phone.

For those with the card, when you login to Hilton Hhonors, does it show that you're a cardholder, or just the standard account screen? I'm got Gold until March 2015 as I'm curious what happens after. Will it automatically continue?

My first month with the card is not up yet, so I can't see any points going across Hilton Hhonors and not sure if the Hilton Hhonors membership number has been linked correctly.

I've never seen it show anywhere - even with the card as the one that guarantees bookings

Had mine only 3 weeks and halfway to Diamond already :shock:

Received the comp voucher in the first week and used it to book a very expensive Auckland room in March for an AFF dinner. :mrgreen:

One thing to watch out for, I noticed online that I have been slugged a $30 over limit fee (I have a VERY low limit) which the T's and C's say I must agree to - I didn't so I need to make a phone call when I receive my first statement.

Slightly OT, but does anybody know if a Diamond books 2 rooms, eg you might want to take your parents away for an anniversary, do all guests get an upgrade and exec lounge access?

Not by the letter of the program, but if often works out this way. More likely to happen in APAC than AUNZ I would think. Hotels are a little tighter here, esp some of the NZ Hiltons.

$40k IIRC. My maths on points vs accruing elsewhere is somewhere in this thread or another on the card. Generally not worth it, but it depends on your trip profiles.

Not Diamond yet - spent nearly $17,000 on the card. You need to spend 40K for diamond, aim to get there by end of January.
IIRC you get the free night after spending $2K which I did on the first day.

Mine show up in the HHonors account about the same time as the credit card statement issue. The points earned also show on the card statement.

I'd be interested in this too as I see Macquarie card as a good option for earning Hhonours points but I can't get them to value at much more than 1% which is gift card territory so have stuck with my prestige card (albeit doesn't earn towards any hotel programs).

To me it is not a $$$ value. I/we would like to achieve Diamond (which you keep for 2 years) and enjoy some of the benefits it brings. Just be nice to have it once. YMMV.

After I have spent $40K I shall just park the card and play with Citi and ANZ Black.

Similar thinking here. It's "horses for courses", and not always about how may cents per point.
