I've been looking at Europe-Australia one ways for next month using kayak explore and skyscanner. On one example, WAW-BNE on skyscanner QF was the cheapest and provided a link to book it directly with QF (with the first leg on LOT). However, when I play around on the QF websites I can't even get Warsaw as a departure point, no matter which European site I change it to!

Is there a trick to booking fares from these hidden departure points without going through a third party site such as skyscanner?

There are ways such as using Firebug within Firefox to edit the form before submitting - but that is semi technical and a bit of a pain (it has to be done in the right order). I haven't found any non tech way to do such searches.

If third party sites provide you with a way to search/book that may be the best.

I think if you want to book through Qantas, you may need to call (and pay the phone service fee).

Other than that, can you find the fare here: iFly - Click and Fly

I know some who have booked using that site with success although I have not used it myself.

I think you find the Polish Zloty would trip that method up. ;)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

As an Australian based travel agent I have access to ex-Europe fares on QF at those same rates, so you should consider popping in to a travel agent. You can get S class (upgradeable) fares at very reasonable rates. One way fares are also very reasonable. E.g. Prague-London-Singapore-Sydney for $960. If you have an agent you even be able to be clever and book something like PRG-LHR-SIN-SYD-CNS-MEL for the same price (with a flight number change in SIN), if you need more SC's.

I've unfortunately only ever had negative experiences with travel agents so I am somewhat wary. Not sure what sort of commission they would want to charge for a fairly simple job like that either - I can book WAW-FRA-SIN-BNE S class for $928 myself (though would love some re-jiggering to get some a380 flights on there!).

I guess it might be time to find myself a good agent :( Happy for recommendations for a Brisbane based one or one happy to communicate via email!

I found that fare on the iFly site.

If you want to avoid a TA, that site seems to do the deal. There is apparently a fee at $15, but the whole cost is charged in AUD which can avoid forex charges for Oz residents.

Does it allow you to do something like my itinerary above PRG-LHR-SIN-SYD-CNS-MEL which is a valid routing, you can change the last bit SYD-BNE-MEL, or SYD-ADL-MEL as well. Nice way for some extra SC's for no extra cost. Especially good during double SC :)

However, there is no doubt, a knowledgeable TA is better for such MR's like that in most cases.

Cool, I was looking at AUD $960 and didn't include any JQ sectors, and also did a flight number change in SIN which IIRC will result in slightly more SC's. I only just discovered this recently when I was looking at travel for myself :)

This is why I use travel agents for anything but point-to-point fares in AU (and NZ). They're just so useful, and the majority of the time, it's no more expensive (with the exception of booking AA who do charge a fee to the consolidator, so they pass it to the agent, and my agent makes no commission on AA bookings, so I pay the net fee they pay; i'm more than happy to pay $50 for insanely complex YUPP fares :))

All US airlines are the same unfortunately on domestic only itineraries.
