HHonors COmp Diamond - how long to process

HI I am eligible for comp HH Diamond status as a Virgin Plat member - how long does it take Hilton to process this. I want to submit it on 2 Jan, and use for a stay on 13 Jan - is this too ambitious?

Yes...but you maybe lucky:). Under no circumstances submit the request before 1.1.15 though!

They say to wait 20 business days. After about 25 business days I called up and they had to chase up Hilton manually. From there it was about another week. Don't leave it till the last minute!

I guess I was an exception. Never had HH until I hit gold. I opted in, waited a week and heard nothing. Hit up HH via email and got a response with my member number about 2 days later with the status.

Relatively pain free compared to others.

On that note I'll hit WP early in the year so will try for the upgrade of status. Is after April the best time of the year to maximize the length of status?

With all the Aviance lifemiles website issues cannot book flights so will now go in Feb. Thanks for the replies.

They say to wait 20 business days. After about 25 business days I called up and they had to chase up Hilton manually. From there it was about another week. Don't leave it till the last minute!

Phoned Virgin. Zero help other than phone 1800 446 667 and try to get Hilton to sort it out.

Phoned Hilton on above number, the person I spoke to said she is unaware of any such offer of status upgrade offer and cant help me.

Phoned again, 2nd person said she knows nothing about any agreement with VA but would log a query with membership services and someone might contact me in approx. 10 days to respond.

This sounds very familiar to me, but from years ago. What actually happened to me was that HH opened a separate HH account for the status upgrade (despite me nominating my account) but failed to notify me of the new account so there it sat. When I rang to enquire, I was told there was no such program that they knew of but after much discussion (and asking numerous other HH staff), they finally decided there was an offer and upgraded me (which was the wrong offer and 6 months later I was bumped despite me staying the required 4 stays in that 6 month period). Rang back again to say I was due another 6 months and was told again there was no such offer but after much debate, was granted my further 6 months (I had at that point received my card for the new account so I then had both a diamond account and a gold account).

My wife activated hers last April and heard nothing. She didn't need it as we have my diamond membership, which has been renewed twice since as BIB or COC (Bum in Bed or Cash on Counter) but some months later she received her diamond card in the post.........there was no notification of the account before that despite her nominating her email address with them. I think one can safety assume that the "process" is far from automated and really depends on Lady Luck smiling on the day of processing as to what you receive and when you receive it.

I opted in on 2 December (my review date) and noticed my account was upgraded to Diamond just before Christmas. I didn't receive any email notifications and haven't received my card.

I was hoping it that HH wouldn't process it until the new year so I could increase chance of Diamond status to March 2017 but I may be lucky anyway.

As did I, so there'll two data points. My gold upgrade last year took about two months so I'm not holding my breath.

I cannot for the life of me understand how a partnership can be this disfunctional.

I definitely believe this to be the case! I opted in on August 15 2014 and was moved to HH Gold on September 3. First I knew of it being processed was when I received my September HHonors statement - no other email confirmation from Hhonors or Velocity. I just rang up to obtain a pin and it was all sorted.

Whilst it may be a little dysfunctional initially, once set-up, it is a fantastic perk and a big differentiator between Velocity and QFF.

It would be interesting to see how many opt-in for IHG over HH.

PS immediately organised for my card to be mailed to be as its not automatic

Exactly the same for me. Literally, same dates and everything.

Will call and get new card sent, if that's the case!

Great relationship they have.

That's quite a good point – I guess it's just nice to hand over to help staff check you in.
Just use a CC as they need that anyway.

On the few occasions that I've used my HH card they have always said they have my HH details on file already.
