Hertz Customer Service?

I believe it is. Have you received the response that covers nothing but then finishes stating "we now consider this matter resolved". Don't know of another company that so bluntly tells a customer to p@@s off. Well... Aami does the same.

I'm currently having trouble getting a fuel refund from Hertz from the US. Presented fuel receipt on drop off, told it would be refunded. Called, told to email receipt and it would be refunded. Emailed, heard nothing. Filled in online form, heard nothing. Then got sent a survey about their customer service. I'm still waiting for my refund.

Hertz customer service really needs to improve.

You don't tell a customer "Go and rent with someone else". Not good.

This has happened again.

Hired a car last week and charge should have been ~$78 and noticed charge on credit card ~$181. Called Hertz and apparently I returned car at 10:30pm and was charged an extra day. Car was returned before time at 7:00pm and keys left in drop box at BNE International as counter was busy. They've obviously closed the rental off when they went out later that night to check on cars.

Not good. Waiting at counter to hand keys back could be a lengthy wait. Now waiting on customer service to investigate but in the mean time they've got my money.

When renting cars nowadays I try to allow an additional 30 minutes to ensure the rental is closed off and I get proper documentation.

I will wait while it is done.

Received reply from Hertz they cannot confirm I returned car on time. They want proof such as boarding pass that I left before 8:00pm. Fuel receipts, itineraries are unacceptable.

All I have is my Go card statement that I touched on at International at 7:14pm going back to Central. See what they say.

We all have different experiences.

Hertz have agreed to refund the extra day charge but the charges don't look right. I didn't check the rental agreement but I'm being told my rental charge is ~$92. The confirmation email from Hertz/United states approximate rental charge ~$78.63 including baby seat. That's a huge unexpected difference factoring small credit card surcharge.

Where to next? Is there an ombudsman?

So why are you still using Hertz?
I gave up and have a much better experience with Avis.
only problem is using my Wizard number in Australia doubles the price of the rental. So I don't put it in yet 2 out of 3 times when I turn up it is on the preferred board.

Check your account settings - you might have big $$ insurance set up as automatic.

The United Airlines miles for not much more than Avis/Europcar. Business class one-way to Asia for every 20 single day rentals. Was much better at 15 single day rentals but still not too bad.

Can treat the wife to a business class seat while I sit down the back with daughter. ;)

In Sydney, Hertz now charge a Pre Paid Toll of $17/day, irrespective of whether you use a toll road. This doesn't appear on the online quote price but magically shows up on final bill. (ACCC?) The additional effect is to push up the price even further through their location fee (32% of total bill for Sydney); it is in their interest to add as many additional charges so they can help themselves to an extra 32% on every dollar. The alternative is a $36/rental toll admin charge(+tolls). I believe Thrifty charge $3. So, the accounts guy was particularly unhelpful and said they'd "look into it" and get back to me in 5 days. I won't hold my breath and I have plenty of time to cancel 6 forward bookings for this year. Gold customer, more like a polished ....
