Hi All,

I am in need of some help regarding the advanced routing codes on the matrix search engine.

I would like to construct a fare from PER to WLG via BNE where the first leg is on VA and is not in discount economy (in order to be able to upgrade using the VA WP complimentary upgrades - assuming availability). I am not fussed about the second leg (any airline or fare class is fine) but when I enter the following advanced routing code it appears to apply the fare class restrictions to all legs on the outbound journey, not just the PER-BNE leg, resulting in a more expensive fare...
VA BNE / f bc=W|bc=R|bc=O|bc=Y|bc=B|bc=L|bc=K|bc=H

Any advice on this would be appreciated, I am still learning my way around the routing code language.

Cheers

Are you searching as a return using the advanced part to specify routing via BNE? It might be easier to search as a multi-segment trip with the code on the first segment to BNE, and making both outgoing segments the same day.

There is a small chance the fare conditions prevent the cheaper segment being combined with the other on the ticket, but I wouldn't have thought it was the case for this simple one.

Unfortunately ITA Matrix doesn't like the device I'm on now, so can't check.

Cheers for the response doctau, your suggestion of using the multi segment search has worked fine. I am still curious to understand how (and if it even is possible) to apply different criteria to each leg of a multi-leg trip using advanced routing codes, if anybody happens to know the coding language that well? But for now I have found the flights I was looking for.

Does anyone know if there is a website equivalent to ITA Matrix, but for using frequent flyer points/miles?

Not that I know of - you can try this one for searches, but there is a small cost: Award Nexus

There's an offer for AFF members:
AwardNexus has been mentioned lots of times for award searches but for those who have not used it here is a link to a great offer for AFF users:

It was originally posted on the Community page. Happy searching for AAdvantage awards!
