Hi everyone! Thanks for any and all help in advance. I need to complete a status run (I believe that is what it's called) before the end of March in order to retain Gold this year. I need around 240 SC's. I do have another flight to Adelaide that I need to make in March which will give me another opportunity to gain some SCs. But would like to get as close to it with this anticipated run as possible. And I would also like to take a trip to Brisbane at some stage to see family. So both of those destinations could be used separately to assist.

I live in Melbourne and would preferably like to get the trip done in 1 day, but will consider two.

I'm considering MEL-SYD-WEL-SYD-MEL for 240 points for around 120k points and $800 odd dollars.....

What are options do I have, any suggestions would be happy to be considered. I will consider both international and domestic options....

Thanks again,
Mick

consider purchasing qantas club membership unless you will use the oneworld benefits travelling internationally. And even then depending on you routes qc is still valuable... It will be cheaper and you keep your points. You can almost go around the world on a oneworld fare for that points/$$ combination

Thanks Tim, that's a great suggestion in comparison! Told you I was a newbie! I'll look into that combination for sure.

Bryan I've considered the qantas club membership, but it is anticipated I will do a couple of international trips in the next year for work. So I'd like to make sure I'm gold prior to going on those trips.

what about
MEL-BNE-TSV-BNE-MEL
72,000points
$521.44
240SC

Hey Tim....

How did you find that fare? And do I have to stay in Townsville for the night? Preference is to stay in Brissie with the family

You could fly to BNE, stay a few days with family and then continue your status run when you are ready. If you leave on an early flight from BNE-TSV you can turn around at TSV and head back to MEL xBNE. Or you could stop off with family again and then head back to MEL on another day.

hths.

there is a link here on the forums somewhere that has a list. cant seem to find it at the moment. I also did a trip similar to this a few weeks back but I had a double status credit offer to go with it

hmmm ok... and how do I book it? I can't find it on the website for anywhere near the amount you are talking about....

Is this one of those things that I have to book through the call centre? One of those marginal ASA things? The process sounds intimidating if you don't know what you are asking for or what you should be getting...... Is it as simple as you should be calling up asking for a U class booking as a ASA as there is classic award bookings and the payment should be the same as if you were booking a classic fare though the web in terms of points and $$?

Check the sticky and success threads on marginal ASAs, you have to do a bit of work to dig up gold these days ;)
