Hi all,
Just need to get to get two friends to Berlin from Brisbane in the next 48 hours. (family member passed away).
In Y, but hopefully in comfort with minimal pricing.

Any suggestions ?
The only requisite is a stopover in BKK on the return in 7 days time.

Suggestions?
Thanks
Iain

Thanks Serfty, I thought bereavement fares were only in the USA? We can miss BKK if that makes a significant difference.
How do you access these fares?

Thanks
IainF

Had a quick look at whats around and Chinese New Year is not helping, my only suggestion is grab JQ to Singapore one way at $256 then grab a flight to Berlin from the QF website in Singapore for around $2K SGD return, everything this short notice e BNE seemed to be 4K.

Actually BA have some decent fares ex SYD tomorrow at $2200 return, Emirates are about the same.

I suggest you ring the airlines direct (starting with Qantas) and advise them of the circumstances. They can sometimes help out with a reasonable fare. We had to do this some years ago and had to offload a family member from a cruiser in the Whitsundays to Hamilton Island and then to the UK. We did it through our radio link and it was organised within hours and it went like clockwork.

From experience, bereavement fares are a waste of time, theyre generally more expensive than simply purchasing whatever the cheapest fare on the day you can find is, so i'd just hunt around and see what you can get and go with that rather than wasting your time ringing around airline to airline.

Forget the $$ and just take the most convenient, most direct routing there (you can play around with the return leg i suppose).

Why not Thai if wanting to stop in BKK?

Thanks for everyones help.
We have booked them on Emirates.
It is always hard to see friends suffer a loss and this was my way of helping them.
Cheers
