Hi There everyone,

My Girlfriend and I are in our mid 20's and want too see the world - work it live it and love it! She has a british passport and apparently I can apply for 'Settlement' because we have have lived together for 2 years. So now I believe I can work and stay in U.K for 5 years? Can I travel with her around Europe and work and live there too???

My grandmother was born in Poland and I could try to apply for a Polish Passport but they are sooo complicated and have been told they can take a couple of years to finally get!!!

So you see I would like to avoid this if possible and just register under my Girlfriends British passport and be done with it.

Your help is muchly appreaciated,
Cheers :D

You would be able to get some sort of visa in the UK if you have been living together for the minimum time (they now recognise defacto relationships - they didn't used to!)

However I don't think this would help you in the EU outside of the UK - to be able to work in the EU you would actually need your own EU passport.

(nb: I really don't know for sure - I think your best option would be to call the UK High Commission in Canberra and ask.)
