Hi all

Used the F checkin today for the first time today (around 3pm on a Wednesday).

Well all I can say is it is magic!!!!

No queue to check in, no queue to screen bags, straight through scanner.

All in all took about 5 mins and that is only because the security person took my bag before I could get liquids and iPad out, so had to ask for it back.

Highly recommend for stress free checkin

You go straight through to Galleries First South.

Just don't go before 9am or the queue for First Class check in is comical.. I mean 'line can go out the front door' comical :p

That's never been my experience, usually arriving between 5.30-7am.

Note that the First Wing security will now plonk you out right into the First lounge, rather than having to take the long walk around through the fast track security (which is still available for use should you so choose).

The new F check-in/security area is so fast that on two occasions I actually went through immigration instead of transit security. Although I have a EU passport.

Never been my experience either, although to be fair I probably only have 15 or so flights per year originating from T5 before 9:00AM.

These days when I am on an ex EU fare I find it much quicker to head through immigration and the F check in suite than use the transfer process when returning to LHR.

The only problem is that it dumps one in the F lounge which means a hike to get to the CCR. :p:p

Ok so for a BA F virgin where and when should arrive for checkin? Dep flt is BA31 18:40 ex LHR - how early can checkin? How early can access Lounge? Concorde Room is way to go is it not? Advice appreciated

Are you arriving by car, bus or train? If car, get them to drop you as far towards the exit of the dropoff area as possible - that will deposit you right at the F wing. Can check-in from 5am, think CCR opens 5.30 (or maybe 6).

Walk through the F lounge, exit, then walk over to CCR.

My last 2 arrivals there around 7am have been lines out the F wing barrier :( Normally don't check bags but for various reasons have had to on my last 2 trips!

Also agree on using enter country / go back in via F wing than to use transfer security.
