I'm flying DUB-LHR arriving 4 pm ahead of an LHR-SIN-SYD at 10 pm. Aer Lingus have advised me "we intend to fly" however expect likely delays and disruptions. They offer a flight change for free however a look online at the booking system is telling - no availability at all on EI for 5 or 6 August. I haven't left London yet, I'm due to fly to DUB on the 4th. I'm on a PE Flexi with SQ and have the option of changing for AUD$900 if I alter now, or just taking a punt and seeing what happens.

Ahhh, luck-o-the-Irish I guess, I'll take a punt.

I was originally booked to arrive into LHR on 06 August but changed to 07 August to hopefully avoid any disruption.

It's MontyPythonesque that on Monday and Tuesday, almost 200 flights outbound from LHR are being "cancelled" - as far as passengers go - but the aircraft will still operate the flights, though devoid of paying users.

Apparently this is to reduce the number of LHR-departing passengers passing through security, given these will have fewer staff on duty as many strike.

There's also some publicity suggesting one can only bring one item through security as handcarry.

Apparently BA does not yet know which flights it will cancel.

Received this information today.

Proposed industrial action by Heathrow Airport staff

We’re sorry to let you know that, like other airlines, we may be affected by the proposed industrial action by Heathrow Airport staff on 5 and 6 August.
We’re working closely with Heathrow Airport to minimise the inconvenience caused. We’d like to ask for your support by making the following adjustments to your journey:
  • The number of security lanes will be reduced. Fast Track and The First Wing will be closed. We expect that it will take longer than usual to pass through security, so please arrive in good time.
  • You’ll only be allowed to take one small personal item of hand baggage that can fit under the seat in front of you. Any additional items of hand baggage must be checked in.
  • We are expecting to transport more checked bags than usual, so where possible, please consolidate your belongings, and keep the number of checked bags to a minimum. Please also ensure that your checked baggage remains within your weight allowance.
We appreciate your co-operation, which will help us provide as smooth a journey as possible, to all our customers over this period. If you’ve made this booking on behalf of someone else or if it includes other travellers, please ensure everyone travelling is aware of the changes.
Please ensure your contact details are up to date in Manage My Booking. should we need to contact you.
We’ll continually review the situation and will update this page with any new advice or information.
Customers can check Heathrow's website and their social media channels for the latest on the potential strike, and here on ba.com for the latest flight information.

LHR T5 as a OWE/GGL I rate very highly. The F security wing is a big step forward compared to most airports.
Wont be on Tuesday ;)....but for mere mortals like me I have to endure a chaotic place most of the time!
