Heads up about program changes

It really wouldn't matter, from my experience your JQ flight would be cancelled and you would end up on a QF anyway !!!

of course you are in the minority.

FEBRUARY DOMESTIC CANCELLATIONS:

Jetstar 20 out of 5596 scheduled (0.4%)
Qantas 90 out of 9510 scheduled (0.9%)
Virgin Australia 112 out of 9944 scheduled (1.1%)

So.... fly Jetstar if you want a better chance of having your flight operate.

Simpler and Fairer I think Not and how can that be given that QFi no longer have any metal out of Perth

They should call it south east coast, not east coast. Brisbane is only marginally better than Perth when it comes to QFi metal. Considering the history of the name, QANTAS should rename itself SMAS.

Probably. I'm having a guess here, but the QF group make more money off people flying JQ than QF. JQ is lower cost base for QF. I could be wrong (probably)...
Let's take a step back and go somewhere where it is not going to be easy to get an answer.

Do you think JQ would survive without Qantas handing it routes, absorbing running costs, use of FF program, lounge network etc?

My thoughts?

Qantas would be better off.

JQ would be looking for a buyer....

Yes JQ would be doing fine, there is a massive market for LCC's.

How can BNE be considered marginally better considering that you have more than one destination currently and more than zero destinations after July;)

If offer was under new System

How do you figure that, from what I can see, it's only on US Airways flights that you get double points, not QF flights to / from there...

Good to see that Qantas does not care about Oneworld airlines!

it seems to be routine for new members of oneworld, most of the members offer a promo when the new member starts.

I believe they did the same for QR

I don't think they don't care about OW, it's just if it's a choice between them placing pax on OW, or on QF metal, QF metal is going to win out every time...

But could JQ "do fine" if QF wasn't subsidising them?

I didn't want to go so deep into it. That is a can of worms that only QF have the answer for. Cross subsidising between Qf and JQ everywhere. We (as public outsiders) will never know.

Cents per mile (transporting bum on seat), QF v JQ...I would have thought that JQ were cheaper.

US airways doesn't fly from SYD to LAX.

US airways doesn't fly from SYD to LAX.

My read is that if / when you fly on US Airways with a QFF number, then you get double QFF points.

Your example showed SYD LAX but it is true that US Airways does not fly this route so your example is moot.

But if you were to fly LAX to PHX on US Airways, then the offer applies.

I've already outlined some of this up thread. Just need the cost per ASK for JQ. From the 2013 revenue per ASK is QFd 16.6 cents, JQ 9.6 cents. According to Clive Doman in the SMH QFd cost per ASK is 12 cents. Suggesting they gain 4.6 cents per ASK. Now if there was a cost per ASK for JQ....
