Heads up about program changes

Yep - I think we all appreciate Red Roo's input ... it's simply that QF appears to let him/her/us down a lot of the time ...

This looks to me like a very well calculated scheme to make flying remote from QFF, note on the first tab:

"While we're making changes in the air, rest assured this does not affect your points balance or the way you earn with our broad range of partners on the ground."

Seems to me that selling points to Credit Card companies is what they want to do, though finding decent flights to spend these flights on doesn't look to be getting any easier.

As for people who have to fly the lowest fair for work reasons (we have this system, flights must be within $x of lowest reasonable fare), doesn't it seem strange that the status credits for discount economy are dropping, but now the new business member system says (forget the name) that the company earns points they can redeem. Seems some travel managers may like the idea of forcing Qantas flights (to get a few company discount flights) through this system and now Qantas will not be giving status to the people who actually fly on the mandated discount economy fares without taking more flights and to get lounge access without adding flights you will need to buy QP.

This scheme also seems to have altered the LAN flights to Auckland :(

Should be easier to sell QFF now that QF won't need to purchase so many points for people actually flying, assuming status credits will still only be available from QF after the sale (and therefore not part of the QFF sale). Look for an enhanced gift shop experience coming soon.

Still have been thinking about the AA Elite World Mastercard, this might be the pushing factor, especially with the new access to US Airways lounges.

Just some initial thoughts as I read through the seventy odd pages already in this thread.

Going from "booked and ticketed on or before Fri 28 Mar 14" on 27 March to "booked and ticketed prior to 28 Mar 14" on 28 March strikes me as actionable. Certainly not "fairer flying".

Can't figure out how to post a double quote in my current state of fury - so thanks also to Serfty for raising this.

It's time like these I wish I was a lawyer. I did not book any flights yesterday to use up my many thousands of QFF points because Qantas stated in writing I could book & ticket today to earn under current scheme. I cannot fathom how it is legal or ethical to inform customers of that yesterday & change it today.

Qantas has gone to hell in a handbasket. Really never thought I would see the day...

But isn't that just typical of these fools?

How long do you think these changes were in planning? How long ago would the tables & text be drawn up? A week ago; about 5pm last night? So some-one dashed off the text a few mins before the web pages went live? We also have the mix up in the 'short' and 'mid' routes table. Geez, did ANYONE even check this stuff?

Every single announcement / enhancement / web change Qantas has done over the past 6 to 12 months has contained typos or broken links or things that get changed the next day.

I wonder if anyone within the QF management actually cares about these sort of things? Maybe our running joke about work experience kids in Qantas IT / 'Loyalty' isn't far off the truth.

I wonder if they exposed their maintenance program to the same scrutiny whether we'd see the same level of care and attention to detail? Or is it "Whatever" there, as well?

Well, you will probably be the only one left...think of all the lounge space!

:D

Shouldn't have any problems with getting spa appointments. This is getting better by the minute... Can't see what the fuss is all about :p

And it gets worse

Just spoke with a FF team member re a booking I have with BA and wanted to know the impact after the 1st July when I need to book again and was told the changes only apply to QF airline partners are not affected and there will NO change in earnings with OW partners WTF????? Seems like no one knows what the hell is going on.

Was also advised that BA NEVER gave the same points and SC out as QF and they only have ever given 0.25% of points regardless of class of travel and she knows as she has worked for QF for 11 years.

Gee good to see QF staff know what they are doing and yes she was rather snooty on the phone.

I am still unclear if existing bookings apply to partner airlines (AA, CX, BA etc...)

It doesn't say not, so I would have to assume it does, but does anyone know how or if they actually get access to the ticketing date for a ticket booked on a partner (say CX) where the ticket is plated on CX, flight number is CX on CX metal?

RooFlyer - what does maintenance have to do with anything here?

Was aiming for 1000000 points as a personal target for no real reason and would have got there in a couple of months. Have now burned just under 900k on J (EK & CX) for the family to Europe and have no desire to fly QF after this. I'm off to VA and will most likely be getting very familiar with AUH instead of DXB.

No need to get wtf-ish. Its called an analogy. If part of QF seems to have 'don't care about detail', then legitimate to question their attention elsewhere.

But if you don't like the analogy - just ignore it ;)
