I got my new WP card in the mail yesterday and I'm amazed to discover you have to reactivate Qantas Cash every year. What sort of mickey mouse product is this?

Still waiting to receive my card - this despite m'ship year ending on 30 Sept; multiple calls to QFF since mid-Sept; multiple assurances that the card has been sent; and "express delivery" that has been anything but express! In all my years with QF, this is the only debacle I have experienced - but it's been quite a WTF situation for me.

Does anyone know if it is possible to load the QCash card by BPay (from a credit card) and double dip on points?

According to the Qantas Cash website you can only load from a bank account by BPay or Poli. Also I would expect that even if you could load from a credit card it would be treated as a cash advance and attract the associated fees.

I gave it a try, but Qantas Cash doesn't accept BPay from CC, so no go there.

Hmm, so I just put $200 on it and booked a ferry in Brisbane with it for two. But it wouldn't go through at the ferry-end, lady reckoned I didn't have enough funds. Figured at the time it was still going through. Also topped up my (Optus) phone with it, but had to go back one before the final page. Payment hadn't gone through yet but then went to go through with it and wouldn't accept the card.

On the QFCash website, under my account, these two payments are still shown as 'pending' and I only have $20 in the account. So, what the heck - where did my money go? To the ferry lady and optus? To qantas? Still in my bank account? Still on the card? Floating around in cyber space?

Still no QF points but apparently it does say the points take up to 8 weeks to appear!

When did you load up the $200? It takes up to 3 working days for funds to appear in your account.

Rec'd an email from Qantas offering 500 bonus points if I activate my card and load $250 in 1 transaction by 31 Jan.

Transactions done at the weekend aren't actually processed until the Monday even though you lose your funds immediately. So at a minimum they will appear Tuesday.

FWIW the transactions via Billpay or POLI on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday have all cleared Tuesday late PM.

My one experience with a 6pm Friday Bpay deposit received confirmation email Wednesday morning - whether the funds were in the QC account Tuesday evening I know not.

This is consistent with my being notified of 10am Wednesday transfer arrivjng with an Email Friday morning.

I would NOT be relying on anything less than 2 business days.

Put it in on Sunday or Saturday, and attempted to make spend it on the Wednesday. Come to think of it, I never checked to see if the bank-card upload had gone through, but I just assumed it would have by then.

In any case, I'm just wondering who, if anyone, has got the $200 now...

I thought I would try out my new card. $250 in via Bpay, which arrived 48 hours later and confirmed by email. $250 cash out via Westpac ATM for no fee. Only slight problem was the correct way up for the card. The ATM picture shows Mastercard digits facing up but with Qantas Cash it must be the Qantas face upwards showing the chip. Of course I had to find my pin - which is now different from others I use and I don't think it can be changed.

I had a generally good experience with the card in NZ, with exchange rate dropping after loading and requiring amounts of cash to pay for privately run accommodation. However, when I tried to pull cash out via large bank ATMs - BNZ, Westpac, I was asked to confirm a nasty exchange rate at the ATM despite only having NZD loaded. Cancelled transaction, stepped across to another ATM, not associated with bank and cash dispensed as expected. Any explanation?

ATMs are starting to offer direct currency conversion when they detect a foreign card, its written like you don't have a choice but generally you do, saying no will often then take you to the next step where its local currency.

Could have been an attempt at something like "Dynamic Currency Conversion" - I reckon it was a smart move to change ATM's.

Yep, especially when conversion was around 0.92 rather than +1.10 AUD to NZD, I wasn't going to take the risk of hoping for another step.
