Yawn.... Pretty boring program thought they would have done something a bit more interesting.

Joined just to get the card and cost Vermin money when I'll probably never fly them after a couple of horrid experiences...

Thank god my business is with Qantas!

Now, if Jetstar could introduce a really simple reward program that would b great! Or extend the QF a little more into it...

You mean like they had been promising to do?

will they offer things like 'priority' bag tags and have seating preferences that you can lodge?

for me these are two of the greatest features of the QF FF program.

99% of the time i get my seat preference (fwd window) and when i don't i have always been able to change to something i think is better.

the little orange priority tags and the purple business tags mean my bags are among the first off and i can get away to the taxi rank quick smart.

i love these two features and if i had to rank order the QF FF program features these would be amongst the top few.

Harumph... :x I always get my preference for aisle but NEVER get my preference for forward cabin. I'm either sitting over the wing or somewhere behind it. And the priority tags seem to do nothing - I see bags without tags coming off before mine all the time.

While I agree the new DJ program is not very exciting, I can't understand why quite a few people on this forum deride them so much. I'd really like to hear about your "horrid experiences" because I've never had any with Virgin.

I have a friend who flies more frequently than I do and he also hates Virgin, but the only reason he can provide is that it is not "business-like" enough for him. :? Can't work that out.

As for Jetstar, I've never flown with them, but friends who have don't have much praise for them mainly because seats are not allocated and the check-in time is longer and very strict.

Because of the joining fee I decided to waste a few minutes of my time recently in Delhi and join up. As far as I can see (AFAICS?) it will get me absolutely nothing should I ever fly on an airline I have so far avoided, and therefore strangely have yet to win my virginity. Our company policy is that all air travel is paid for by a select few people in the business so they can earn mega points on their company Diners Club card. This means that when I fly on most sensible airlines I still get the points and staus credits (or equivalent) because I am the one flying. If the points accrue based on who pays for the flights then I get nothing.

To me this is the stupid aspect of the Vermin programme and clearly an ill-conceived one on their behalf. All I can see is that the process of paying for flights in the manner of my company will likely increase as not only will reward points accrue for DC spend but the payments made for the Vermin flights will be credited to the individual accounts of these relevant people who may then use them, clearly not for a DL flight, but in the luxury of an EK.

This is NOT a FF scheme, but merely an offshoot of the proliferation of credit card affiliation programmes.

Thanks for nothing Vermin tryhards.

Ahem ..... but where in the T&C does it state that the person who pays for the flights accrues the points? All it says is ...
For bookings, payment by all major credit cards commonly recognised in Australia at the time of booking will be accepted. Cheques or cash payments will not be accepted.

Furthermore when you go to book a flight it asks for the passengers Velocity No, not whoever is paying for it. There is no mechanism to record the CC holders Velocity no, so how do they accrue points?

I have given Vermin 2 (2xreturn) chances for my custom, just in case the first experience was a one off - sadly not. My main gripe with them was the fact my flights were rescheduled / cancelled every SINGLE time I flew them, the rescheduled flights were late and the ground staff just laughed it off in the face of 100 sydney people stranded in Melb on a Friday night ready to kill the Virgin staff for being so blase. Facilites on the ground resemble a sewer in Melbourne and the planes I flew in were dirty and felt like they were 50 years old not 5... I could go on but its mainly the stuff that Virgin lacks that Qantas has, which has been posted a billion times.
