Have you ever had a hotel charge you for something you did not get or sign for?

I'm a bit worried about being charged for the minibar but happily that hasn't happened yet. I'm happy with hotels that don't put anything in there so I can refrigerate my own water.

I've had a couple of charges on the bill for things like dinner at their restaurant (which I'd almost never do anyway) but after raising it they were quickly removed. Some data error I guess.

Not really an extra charge but incompetent staff at Sofitel Adelaide had no idea about the Diamond Spa and dining awards so overcharged us for our stay.
Meal was just over $300 and the Accor Plus discount took $75 off that so when Nrs Jase goes to checkout the next morning she whips out the app and shows the staff the 10x €10 diamond credits to which staff says that converts to $17 and proceeds to take that amount of the bill. Despite my wife trying to argue the point the clueless GM tries to say that the whole value of the awards is €10 not 10x €10.
My wife even joked that why would Accor give just €10 to a Diamond member.
In the end she gave up, settled the bill and left.
All 10 vouchers were removed from app so flicked off an email to Accor.and finally after 4 weeks I was given the option of a refund via CC or they would give my awards back. Took the second option and and received 10 vouchers back so now have 20x €10 awards to use this year

Yeah, our very nice dinner had been charged to someone else’s room a few years ago … definitely an honest mistake, if they were dishinestly charging stuff in the hope their victims didn’t notice then we wouldn’t have had the meal missing from our bill. :)

I had the opposite experience at one of the Doubletrees in Perth last year. They forgot to charge for breakfast. I queried this at checkout, and they advised they couldn't change the bill to charge us, so we inadvertently got free breakfast that morning.

Like many others here, I've had the odd minibar charge applied to my bill when no items were consumed. Most recently that occurred at the Sofitel Adelaide, who amended the bill on checkout without any argument. On a recent Sebel Martin Place stay, I pointed out to front desk immediately after checking into my room that I'd noted one of the bottles in the minibar had clearly been opened (but not by me). Took it down to them and advised them not to bother replacing it as I would not be consuming, and also to ensure there was no charge. Nothing appeared on the bill.

Recently charged $us 50 or so for “early check in “ at a Seattle hotel as I turned up before 3pm check in on the off chance I could check in early, was checked in yet after I left noted an early check in fee which was never disclosed at the time , I rang to complain and apparently will get a refund…..
