Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Marginal was the word to use a few months ago, and as I was at work I wasn't going to spend 30 minutes on the phone explaining it to them, I will ring tonight when I have a little more time.

Yep. "Marginal" hasn't become an official QF term. Most of the advice here suggests not using that terminology IIRC

Just checked my QFF account as well as totting up all my wife, childrens' and parents accounts - 52,667

Add to that my (step) mother-in-laws account (I'll ask her nicely :D), then it'll add up to 64,020. I think that'll be my magic number and get two JASA's (24K & 36K, throwing in the rest to reduce the $ on one of them). That should get me some SC's.

Wonder if my brother would give me some of his (assuming he has any left)??

Wow, family QF WP is really running on fumes when it comes to QFF points.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just booked the return journey. This time it was Lauren and although she got the job done - it took forever with a dismissive tone thrown in for free. For some reason the return flight cost more than the trip over

2 x F LHR-SYD 416,520 + $2,250.84 + CC fee ($60).......the co-payment for 384,000 was around $2,600 ++

Will need to cough up to get the SYD-BNE added but decided to grab the P seats while I could. Didn't want to risk waiting for the daily release of seats to roll over tonight.....

Finally got around to adding the 2 X J SYD-BNE leg. Extra charge $27.64 pp or $55.28 all up. Pretty happy with that!

Care to share the dates? Interested to see if they came back into the awards pool..

NRT-SYD October 12, 2014. (The cancellation hasn't been processed yet.)

There was no classic inventory originally (I made a special request after getting downgraded on HKG-SYD), so I'll also be interested to see what happens.

+1 On Fumes "Reserve Tank"

This has been my best burning year ever.... A true fire sale actually...

Hi guys,

I tried booking a mASA (the first one I've done) today.

It all proceeded smoothly, the agent hadn't come across one before but she was very helpful and apologetic that it was taking so long. The "Right on Q 7740" reference was the key to helping her get on the right track.

She noted that there would be no cancellation fees, no change fees and no service fee. However, when it came time to put the booking through, she told me that a window popped up on the screen and indicated that there would be a cancellation fee of 5,000 points. I asked her to double-check and she told me it was definitely the case and speculated they were closing some of the loopholes early. I asked her if this applied to change fees and she said no, only the cancellation.

Has anyone else come across this, or should I call back and try again with someone else?

Well, I guess like many people (me included), s/he has been in the "burn" mode recently.

Ever since markis10 put me into his old (closed) thread on MASA's (2011?), I've been burning my points. I started with ~300K And have hit 0 four times now. Over the past 2 years, like blackcat20, I've been earning to burn. I've burnt ~200K over the past 2 years under this method.

Just to clarify my initial post, I was booking an international flight from the US back to Sydney in U class. If you paid for it on the website, it would be fully refundable as a Business class fare; I was under the impression that the mASA would mirror these refund conditions.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi berkdude, welcome to the forums, agent is quite correct on everything that she has told you including the 5,000 point cancellation fee :).

I do not believe so ... if the fare rules on your booking state full refund, then it is full refund with no penalty.

More on this shortly, but check the fare rules on your booking.

I have burnt around 500k QFF on JASA's / MASA's in the past 11 months..... ;) Perhaps I'm one of those who killed the golden goose...? :D

Yep, I'm burning as fast as I can earn. I just don't have enough for a final hurrah.

Good work people. I've been burning a fair bit as well. Probably not quite the volumes you guys/girls have and I also burn a fair bit on upgrades. I'm about to consolidate Mrs_O's points into my account so will see If I have enough for one last JASA :).

Presumably a decent chunk of change in cash co-payments too...

Well noted... to be honest I believe that all the MASA's I purchased were good value for both Qantas & myself... as a rough calculation for every 1 QFF point I spent on the MASA, there was a cash payment of $0.006 cash paid also.

So while I used ~500,000 Qantas Points, removing the liability off the books, I also paid ~$3,000 in cash

That particular $3k they wont be getting after June 30... Will be just upgrades on cheap Red-e-deal fares where applicable

So what happened this time? I thought there was no way to get around paying for the add on leg separately?
