Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Minimum points appears to have gone up significantly now too...

That won't have changed, unless there's been an inopportune change to fare routings or something.

So you have the activity statement deduction saying 32,000 and confirming that it's an ASA?

The operator seemed to understand the process of booking U class ASAs and said there had been a number of changes to booking the fares lately. As there was only one seat available on most of the flights I was booking I had to pull the trigger. I will try and call back again but given these are the 4th and 5th fares I have booked since 28 March, and at no stage has minimum points been less than 32000 even if only a 2-flight one-way journey, it may be a fruitless exercise...

In direct response to your question, yes I checked the statement before posting here, and like all the others I have booked it says QANTAS & JETSTAR ANY SEAT AWARD 1 ADT .

OK, I didn't mean to offend you... it's possible the routing rules for BNE-CBR have changed. Do you happen to have anything booked between 18 and 28 March?

Tip ... when the booking is made via phone, they only take my QF# and never my +1 (I offer, they refuse).
So yesterday after booking made, I jumped into Manage My Bookings and updated my +1s QF#.

24 hrs later, no ticket issued.

I then rang back and queried. They explained because I "amended" the booking before the ticket was formally issued that "it had dropped off the issuance queue". The operator made a call to the ticketing office and said it would be issued today. And because it was any Any Seat ticket they take longer to issue.

So don't make any 'adjustments' to your booking until the ticket is formally issued it seems.

What a wonderful IT system.

I have been scrolling through everyones posts but can't seem to see anything on ASA's with a one world partner & I am going to be making a marginal ASA booking within the next week for April 2015 & was wondering if anyone can tell me if we don't book a QF flight (loath to go via Dubai again from Perth) but go with a CX flight, will we still get the same amount of points & SC's?

Award flights on OW partners will not earn points or SC. Even paid flights on OW will soon be worth only half (SC) of what they use to be :(

ASAs are only available on QF flight numbers on QF metal (there are very few reports to the contrary, but they are very few and far in between, and they date back a few years).

Not at all offended! Thanks for that, is there somewhere I can look up the routing rules myself? Though I did book several fares between 18-28 March, none were between BNE and CBR.

Also good for J* (JQ flight No) Maybe we'll see a rush of bookings going to the star in the QF Crown ;)

Last night I booked a JASA for May, which is the start of my QFF year. SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD. Tom, on the 1300 number, breezed through this in nine minutes, which I thought was pretty good. 96,000 points/$729 all up (for 440 SC). The deduction has posted exactly as expected in my activity statement.

Have done a similar one before (DRW instead of ADL), but doing ADL this time for 40 less SC.

QF itinerary took about 20 hours to be emailed out.

Actually doing the flights over a 3 day period (2 nights in TSV).

Doesn't have to be QF metal. You can get them on QF codeshares. I rang for a quote a couple of weeks ago and was told that the codeshare I wanted could be booked as a MASA. My particular route required a 5 day trip, not 4 as I had planned so I left it for now. Plenty of time to still book and it was a fair way in advance.

It does have to be QF/JQ metal unfortunately with a few rare exceptions.
The call centre have great difficulty understanding this at times.

Yes. I think some of us would like to see mr orange's QFF statement after he books these flights

I hear you people, but the agent I was speaking to knew what he was doing, as he booked a conventional BNE-SYD rtn for 2 pax for me without any hassles and then he specifically went off to check about the codeshare I requested and came back and said it was possible.

I won't be attempting to book just yet as I have yet to finalise plans with Mrs_O, but I will report back if/when I do.

ARRRGGGHHH. Thought my lucky streak would hold. I've now been on the phone for 12 minutes. Can't book a mASA over the phone. They have to be done on-line.

Which city was the call centre in?

Sorry. Didn't think to ask, but called again and had success with 'John' (will post on the other thread if I can find it)

John did mention that they are expecting to be VERY busy in June doing mASA's
