Well they used to be open on Wednesday. Now they are just open Thursday to Saturday. Simples.

Then there is pronunciation. As I walked past the TV last night I thought I heard the voice on the Maxigesic ad say they were adictive. That would be newsworthy. In fact she was saying additive but pronouncing it a dit ive hence my confusion.

Definitely. In the USA the stresses on the words and sentence phrasing are different.
