The alleged HALF PRICE fares on Virgin seem to be about 20% under the week in week out usual sale fare levels from what I can see.

That's clearly stated.

Yes it is another billion plus handed over to airlines.

Giving it to me for making 1 day turnaround flights I'd take anyway and being subsidised by taxpayers is totally dumb. Ditto for the 1000s of biz travellers a day flying to meetings they'd make anyway.

Make them valid ONLY if traveller is away for a week or fortnight makes some sense as that DOES help tourism, but no-one in Government uses common sense with these no strings handouts.

Yes in some areas it will help tourism. And would hep a TON more if a week stay was needed to get the Gov't funded discount.

But it is a naked CON to call them HALF PRICE FARES. They are not.

Syd ade aren't on the destination list of half price under the gov subsidy.

Maybe read the promo 1st, see what destinations are half price.

Your Syd ade just normal sale fare.

For someone who seems to spend more time complaining about VA than anyone else, you do also seem to keep flying with them regularly?

Anywhoo, perhaps it's half off the airfare but the taxes and charges are still at 100%? Not sure, but that may be why you're not seeing the razor sharp 50% you so shoutily expect...

Hello! I got Melbourne- Uluru return for $285 , that included upgrading to the top Starter Max bundle, great deal! the accommodation when you get there however

And why should it be, if people are normally prepared to buy at a range of prices, average seems an appropriate measure. It’s certainly not stopping people from snapping them up, which was the intent.
