Government to halve flight prices in $1.2bn tourism plan

I booked Hobart to Cairns return for late May in the DSC promo; got it for $575 from memory, all QF flights. Just checked the "half price" sale on same dates. Cheapest combo of flights was $595 and this includes some Jetstar legs.
So DSC is better even if you put $0 value on the extra SCs (I would put a value on extra SCs).

So....half priced sale on now. Went to Virgin....virgin does not fly Perth to Alice Springs. Go to Qantas and I am going round and round in circles "trying" to get to the actual flight page. It keeps taking me to the page that tells me in detail about name changes blah, blah, blah.

So has anyone actually managed to book a flight yet?? lol

I got some SYD-OOL flights total was $480 for 4 people return which I think is a good enough deal
Lucky you! I should have stayed up until 12 midnight!

Tassie family snared lots of cheap flights on QFLink to the mainland, they are very happy. Paired the half price one way with the sale on the other!

Good to see Virgin IT is up to its usual standard - my numerous searches result in no flights found!
I'm with you there! No flights from Perth to Alice and qantas is going round and round in circles taking me to every page that is not the flight sales....sigh...

I actually purchased them at 9am this morning via the virgin app
I found on a PC I couldn’t get the sale page to show but on my phone it was better

I’ve gotten in several times 9am - noon, on laptop and phone. Still haven’t found anything I want or need to book ...

Booked three flights on QF website this morning, one using a voucher, and it worked ok. Not sure what you are using but I only use the 'book a trip' function on the home page of QF website, opened on chrome, cache cleared if it doesn't work. This is what the Call Centre have advised me to do - ridgy! Have tried tablet and apps and it's often ended in tears/error messages.

Cheers skip

"Lucky you! I should have stayed up until 12 midnight!"

Well - I did that and it was no help to me :( Had all the flights selected for a weekend away with my wife, got to about the third or fourth page, entering details etc and it kept crashing out! Sure enough, price jumped by $145 when i got back in. (was a $95 CBR-OOL leg)

I can't get in at all. Not sure what else to try as I have tried safari, chrome, my phone and nothing works. Maybe I'm not supposed to travel....sigh...

I noticed that QF has just added an extra ADL-BNE flight on 3 May with half price (as well as both Economy and Business Classic Reward seats) available for booking...

An interesting absurdity:
Searching google flights for CBR-SYD gives the usual QF $220 fare ow for the 50 minute hop. But it also now shows flights on 7 Apr for ~$140 and then later in the month for ~$130. These are 'half off' flights via OOL. 😛 Both legs at the discount price!
If you have the time, why fly direct when you can connect!

@Lynda2475 You get the SC for what you fly: both flights.
Use a DSC voucher and you'd get 4 times the usual CBR-SYD credits. (still not great $/SC value)

I’m seeing loads of half price QF fares in and out of Tassie (even though I thought it was supposed to be one way!).....

Have booked a couple, I’ve never booked a cheaper domestic airfare in my lifetime 😂

Are the outbound from Tas fares “everywhere else” sale fares?
