Good News! Pyjamas on (almost) all Qantas international flights in J!

Lots of people don’t think you need PJs for a daytime flight. So they're not missing anything. Anyone that wants them can either ask, or unfortunately they miss out if they don’t know :(

So those people who don't need them just don't accept them when they're offered. The key point is good service is offering the advertised product.
 
Except on ANA. and JAL where the PJs are on loan only, and are collected at the end of the flight (and reused). So a first time flyer on QF instead of JL may not know they can take the PJs home.

And if I had a dollar for every time I read a blog where the person didn’t know they were available on request, or I ask a friend if they got a kit and their reply is ‘none were offered’!

I missed wearing mine on JAL as I fell asleep, they bagged them up and handed them to me as I exited the plane.

Or, the FAs on this full priced, ‘full service’ airline, when the CSM comes around to give a greeting might say “ pyjamas are available if you would like them”.

That would seem to satisfy those who would like a pair and those who would not. Similar to when they say “are you dining with us today?” Offer the choice.
 
I can see why offering something might lead to time and product wastage if lots of people 1) accept but don't use it or 2) decline. IMHO I'm happy with the SQ message (which was easy for me to find) that extras are available on request, with specifics. That's a happy medium for me - reduce wastage and associated costs and be clear what I can get. My personality type is such that I'll even avoid using the call bell most of the time, even when some FAs say it's there to be used.

These are shelf-stable items, so I don't see how declining them would be wasteful.

As for pax who accept them, well that's not "wastage." The pax has accepted something they'd like to have.

End of the day, let's just be realistic: these airlines aren't declining to offer items they're happy to advertise because they are so deeply concerned about wastage. They decline to offer them because they like it when pax don't accept them because it saves them money.

IMHO, I think it's completely reasonable to walk through the cabin with the items and offer them or at least make clear they're available rather than just dump them on every seat, but anything less is just a greenwashing, cost-cutting exercise dressed up as sustainability --- and it reeks of "we don't want you to know about this, let alone ask."
 
Was it the CSM? Maybe check with them if you get a chance? They should have them… i got them to Manila the other day… a shorter daytime flight!
Cabin crew member said none available but I was insistent stating that QF advertised PJs on international flights (excluding south pacific destinations ) so she asked the CSM who stated there were none on board. Of course, they probably had them for the return flight unless PJs are loaded in HKG.

What annoyed me equally was the insistence to close all the window blinds by the crew, thus encouraging people to sleep.

I flew JAL last year from Europe to NRT and was not offered any PJs. would have asked if known. I don't like sleeping in my clothes especially when I have multiple flights.

JAL doesn't offer full PJs in Business.

They have a pullover top on select A350 routes and the cardigan on other routes, which needs to be given back

They have a set of take home PJs in F.

That’s not good :(

AFAIK PJs are loaded for both ways out of Australia? Maybe it was just a crew that didn’t know… although there’s no excuse after this length of time.
