Gold QFF - Access to lounges in KUL and SIN when travelling 3K?

Why not book an MH flight form SIN to KUL, gives you access as it is a OW airline. I have done it a number of times flying QF to SIN and then on to KUL with MH, separate tickets but far cheaper than a single ticket with QF the whole way, with the SIN KUL leg on 3K.

Count yourself extremely lucky.

I wonder if that strategy is going to work all the time.

Was definitely pretty happy with lounge access, I think the Cathay lounge staff can often be more lenient than other airlines from a few experiences I've had

SO, let me get this right... If flying 3K (but QF ticket), you'll be allowed access to the QF lounge in SIN but not other OW lounges like MH and CX. Is that right?

correct. jetstar lounge access is basically to qantas owned and operated lounges (there are a couple exceptions).

Thanks for that. Doesn't really encourage people to fly Qantas when their "Asian strategy" is to use Jetstar, is it?

The majority of flyers don't pick a flight because of lounge access, its because of price, in that context they have it right, on all the 3K flights I have taken, out of 100-120 odd passengers on average there would be lucky to be two or three who have taken the plus pack for points etc.

Thanks for the further thoughts guys.

I'm limited to what I can book through our corporate travel people, so I basically had the choice of MH there and back, or QF/3K there and back.

Looks like I won't get KUL lounge access, but hopefully I'll have time to pop into the SIN QF lounge (1.5 hr stopover) for a quick bite to eat and a shower before hopping on the QF flight back to SYD.

If that's the case, I don't understand why QF won't let you earn points/SC on flights ticketed by them (but on 3K metal) to your final destination on one PNR!

They do let you earn points, just got to have the right fare bucket, again proving the price issue is the driver.

Oops. Yes, they do on higher fare buckets... *sigh*
I actually didn't know that at first but, now that I do, I will only consider QF if it's point-to-point and my destination is SIN, BKK or HKG.

An old thread but thought I should update regardless, CX lounge access is possible when travelling KUL-SIN on QF codeshare ticket.

Even on a flight operated by Jetstar Asia, but with a QF number?

Yes. I had access to CX lounge in KUL on QF4233 to SIN.
Not sure if this is possible for SG but definitely ok for WP.

Gave it a shot today, flashed the Plat card on a QF codeshare to SIN and enjoying a beer in the CX lounge...
