I thought I would share this as GHA aren't featured on here that much but do have some good perks.
Firstly I am a GHA black thanks to the Sebel in Sydney (our work hotel) being a member, well until the end of the year as it is now A|Club.
Unlike most programs where you earn points for stays, GHA offer "experiences" as well as certain things based on status. the basics include water in your room and free internet (all levels). Other things like upgrades and later check out are also offered.
So my last stay was in London the day before I flew home. Prior to this i had been debating on where to stay. I recevied an email from GHS with an offer to redeem a black experience for a Kindle touch if you stayed at a hotel. Bingo I thought! So in the end I decided to stay here:
The Bloomsbury Hotel - The Doyle Collection - London, United Kingdom - Global Hotel Alliance
As it was close to where we had been staying for the Olympics and I love the West End. It was a tad pricier than some hotels but including breakfast it was about 150 pounds including breakfast. not too bad considering the Paralympics was starting the next night most other hotels around were the same if not more.
At the same time I decided to redeem a platinum experience for a 50 pound Harrods voucher.
Now as I was travelling from London to Barcelona for a few days I was hoping they may store my extra bag for 6 days. I gave them a call and they said no problem at all. So I dropped my bag off before I left.
On my return i checked in and was warmly greeted, my spare bag was fetched while I checked in. My Kindle touch was waiting for me and I was told I was double upgraded to a suite. I asked about a late check out as I had a 10.30pm flight home. No problems, you may stay til 6pm. i was also informed my Harrods gift card was ready to collect from the store.
Well my room was huge! easily the biggest room I've ever had in London (will post pics soon). Bathroom had a separate bath and walk in shower as well as a TV. Breakfast was a full english breakfast, but unlike the hot buffet, you select off the menu and thy cook to order (the usual continental breakfast fares are there ).
The room was very spacious and included sitting chairs and a desk.
So overall I was very happy with the hotel and also the redemption. I had fun spending 50 pounds at Harrods and I love the Kindle Touch (it came with case too).
I'd definitely recommend the hotel as it is a stones through from Tottenham Court Road Tube station and Oxford Street, and a real boutique hotel. and although the GHA program doesn't have some things like the others, it certainly has some good experiences (i'm looking at using the next one for a ride on a 737 simulator!)
