Hi all,

I have not been to tokyo for over 10 years, so I am a bit out of practice !

I am wanting to come home on the Friday evening however I will not be able to leave my Client before 4pm. I am looking at the JAL flight that leaves about 7:30pm back to Sydney.

I will be staying at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo and my client is next door.

The airport limousine bus seems to have a final departure at 3:35pm from what I can tell. If that accurate, its not an option.

I've been warned off taxi's due to cost. I understand a train is possible , but I am unclear where I get it from and how long it will take me to get to the train station. I also am a bit concerned about finding my way around, but don't know if thats really an issue.

Are there any regular travelers who can advise me on options ?

Thanks.

The Narita Express is probably the way to go given you are fairly close to Tokyo station downtown.

You can plug your trip into Google or Bing Maps and it will show you the routing, if you go the metro route it comes out at an hour and 32 mins

Another option is the limousine bus from TCAT. You're near Nagatacho station on the Hanzomon Line, and from there it's one train (13 minutes; every five minutes) to Suitengumae Station, which is connected to TCAT. From there the bus takes around an hour. There are buses at 16:40, 16:55, and 17:10 (among others), which should get you there with more than an hour to spare.

I find hyperdia.com/en a useful site for bringing up various rail/s
Metro options

Thanks. If I got a Taxi to Tokyo station to take the Narita express, ho long would it take ? Or is it easy to navigate the metro if you only speak English ?

Haven't been to Tokyo, but in Osaka, navigating the trains was very easy. Signage is all in English and announcements on train in English too. I found it very easy to get around.

Hyperdia was a godsend for navigating Japan rail/subway system - even gives you platform numbers. The Japanese have made public transport almost idiot tourist proof - lots of signs in English, including inside the trains/next stop ect.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just got back Monday from a business trip to Japan. I was staying in Ueno so took Skyliner to the airport. But also had to take trains to Nasu where factory was. If you have to take trains its very doable. I don't speak or read Japanese but got around fine. If I remember the Narita express took like an hour from airport to Tokyo station where I caught another train.
