Guys I want to get some duty free alcohol to CVG, is it going to be possible? Most likely I'll have to go via DFW/ORD to get there and I'm worried that at the domestic checkin i'll get taken off me.

Will it actually be cheaper to buy non-duty free in the US?

Duty/Excise is not such a big impost in the USA as it is here in the Antipodes.

However, duty free grog ex AKL can be inexpensive if pre-ordered.

Note that you can't carry-on bottles > 100ml with flights from NZ to the USA, most bags are searched "at the gate".

You would need to pick up on arrival into NZ, go landside and check it in all the way through to CVG.

No checked luggage ≡ no D/F liquids.
