Getting Both AZ & Pfizer

With gallons of AZ sloshing about, it will be interesting to hear the spin attempting to divert booster seekers because e v e r y o n e has not had their second initial shot.
The former argument could be typical socialist spin and might suits some premiers but the feds will be struggling to justify any booster delay () IMnsHO ()

Now I have had 2 AZ shots and my initial thought was to have a Pfizer booster.I'm now thinking I would like a third shot to be AZ again.
what about a booster of AZ and a booster of Pfizer? I'm not even sure if I'm kidding or not. Hopefully 1 - scientific data will provide more clarity around boosters and 2 - Aus will act swiftly & proactively on such data.

I'm doubtful they will ever do a trial of that combination so unlikely to be able to give an answer.

However the benefit of being slow is that we will see what further time brings out.Just a month ago everyone was sure that Pfizer would be the way to go.But the fall off in effectiveness after 6 months must be a worry.Add to that more side effects such as the Multisystem Inflammatory disease with the mRNA vaccines means the jury is really still out as to the best boosters.

Will be watching the UK,US,Canadian and Israeli situation with interest.

So being evasive in declarations?

No, just deciding what they want to boost with and doing it rather than waiting for guidelines. Given there is plenty of AZ it’s not ethically wrong either (not preventing someone else from getting vaccinated and it’s not contra indicated for them of course).

Now that the Pfizer fade is well evidenced a lot of early on vaxxed healthcare workers who are on the front line are worried about their level of protection.

The problem will be what happens in 6 months time. Will the Pfizer fade occur?I would think likely.
The UK has found that a time between the 2 initial AZ shots of 42-45 weeks actually gives better results than the 12 gap.
They also showed that a third AZ shot given 6 months after the first 2 gave higher antibody levels than that seen immediately after the second shot.As well side effects after the third dose were less severe than after the first 2 doses. The clots should not be an issue as 97% occur after the first dose.

Now I have had 2 AZ shots and my initial thought was to have a Pfizer booster.I'm now thinking I would like a third shot to be AZ again.
So given that they said earlier that AZ would be retired, are you thinking that might change and AZ will be available for boosters? I’d prefer an AZ booster.

If Pfizer (Jury still out on Moderna?) will need boosters every 6 months or so I think lots of people will be jumping ship to take AZ at the next phase if it means longer intervals or not requiring boosters.

I imagine CSL is not going to stop manufacturing AZ as still a market in less developed countries who would have trouble affording the mRNA vaccines and difficulties handling them
So if we see more evidence of the Pfizer fade and AZ holding up for at least a year you would think AZ may make a come back.

Seqirus has already sent millions of AZ to a number of countries.

Some were purchased by the Commonwealth Gov and donated to countries like Fiji.

Data is starting to appear indicating the Moderna fade is not as severe as the Pfizer fade but not enough data to make a strong call yet (that I’ve seen anyway)

Some articles overnight suggesting a “3rd dose unnecessary for most” and that “booster shots should be prioritized only for the immunocompromised and elderly”. From what I can see, she’s not specific one vax over another? If it is specific to AZ, then that’s another data point on comments and articles @drron has shared here.

A little more circumstantial evidence that of the mRNA vaccines Moderna may be the choice. In Connecticut of those fully vaccinated with breakthrough infections those who had pfizer were more likely to get severe Covid than if they had Moderna or J&J.
Although the incidence of severe or critical COVID-19 illness remains low in those who are fully vaccinated, we observed a higher number of patients with severe or critical illness in those who received the BNT162b2 vaccine than in those who received mRNA-1273 or Ad.26.COV2.S

I'm double vaxxed and will simply wait for instructions in regard to boosters.

I'm still not sure if I should have a 3rd (or 4th ?) shot if there are other people in the world who haven't even had one shot.

Nevertheless, I will do what is needed to protect myself / my family / my friends / my community from this horrible disease.

Ah what a fabulous wealth model from Pfizer to produce an expensive vaccine that requires a booster every six months. Wish I’d though of that.

While the aim of the AZ vaccine was to produce a vaccine at cost for the world.

The glaring hypocrisy of so many in Australia. Not a squeak about vaccine equity. Don’t want to risk TTS but are happy for poorer countries to get the scraps (AZ) because they can’t afford PZ.

Next time your local social justice warrior starts banging about justice and equity ask them which Vax they got.

Several countries have mixed 1st and 2nd.
Jury still out.

The Australian 5jab person has had 2AZ and 3PZ (so far)

Well I will have the AZ again as a booster if needed. There already has been a trial with the 3rd dose of AZ 6 months after the second.A higher antibody response than after the second dose with less side effects than the second dose. The second dose is already known to have less side effects than the first.TTS is predominantly with the first dose.
Though with Pfizer the side effects generally are worse with the second dose and pericarditis/myocarditis more frequent after the second dose.So widespread use of it as a booster will be interesting.

So if boosters are required, two medico's here now saying they'd have AZ again. Apart from that obvious discussion, is there benefit in doing this over two AZ and one of moderna etc?
