General Medical issues thread

My 6th colonoscopy procedure is in a few weeks time. Every two years now as well as a gastroscopy which will be my third. Necessary evils but still unpleasant. Is it weird that I like the feeling as the anesthetic kicks in, that nice drifting off feeling.
I don't get it (the drifting off feeling). I'm there one minute, gone the next.

So, booked in for another angioplasty this coming week and extra drugs to keep me going until then. That will make 5 since this episode started a bit over a year ago. I have never had the "new lease on life" feeling after any of these procedures but keep hoping.

Well I never felt lighter than I did after that first colonoscopy. I understand the appeal of colonic irrigation now. (though isn't it just a fancy name for enema?)

I am thrilled that my respiratory physician told me that I do NOT have heart failure and he is prepared to sign anything I need to be signed re travel insurance. Could save me thousands.
What a relief!!
Fantastic news for you! And a shame you’ve been through the wringer of recent years.

I still need to take an oxygen concentrator whenever I travel. Even on a Fremantle to Fremantle cruise in case there is a situation where I need to fly to fly home.

And Quickstatus is correct, I have been seduced by the pleasure of flying in J.

I do almost of my flying now domestically, so F isn't an option. Maybe that is a good thing as I don't always have enough points to fly J without a cash supplement.

Sorry that you’re going through this. I missed the original post detailing the early parts of your presentation. This is a rare outcome but it is for this reason that I always tell my patients they need the symptom burden or the non-invasive testing to “earn” an Invasive angiogram. It’s too easy to assume something needs stenting based purely on the diagnostic Angio imaging. Functional or adjunctive data is a must. Either non-invasively or invasively at the time of the diagnostic study.

Thanks. I have been trying for years without success to get fitter. My wife, a swim coach, would say I was grey at the end of each lap in the pool. I could never get enough air into my lungs. I was diagnosed LBBB and after some years fitted with PM. That was the start of problems as it just did not work, every night placing me in PMT...80-100 times. After weekly consults and remapping each week for 3 months it was finally determined this had 3 causes. Retrograde conductivity, substrate to reentry and sinus node holding signal past 196ms. So I now have some unique PM settings to work around it and talk of writing a paper. lol. Through all this a 30cm+ blood clot developed in the axillary, brachial and subclavian viens. Seems like alot so I won't mention the dissected LAD.
My wife would say she has swimmers with PM who would say they felt renewed. My swimming never improved, I still could not get enough air and never got that new lease on life experience.
Prior to first stenting I did have a CT scan which indicated some narrowing. Have had numerous stress ECG. I was treated for restenosis before IVUS indicated SF LAD from 1st stenting. Through all this I still have faith and respect for my cardio who I believe is doing his best ... and he is not inexperienced in this regard.

I'm sure it is only going to be a cold but when I came home from work early yesterday and took to my bed, I had 4 blankets and a jumper and was still shivering, Paracetamol helped with the fever but didn't touch the sore throat at all.
Not impressed as I never (well very rarely) get sick.
Very fitful night and then got up about 12 to loll by the tv, Feeling a bit better but the throat is still there! :(

Hope it doesn't last too long, when I had that recently I had an extremely sore throat for about a week and a half.. usually it's 1-2 days tops!
