General COVID-19 Vaccine Discussion

And another study on Omicron and vaccines. Really bad news if you had got Sinovac.

And another proviso -most of these studies are just looking at antibody levels which aren't all that accurate in predicting risk of infection. Plus doesn't take into account cellular immunity.

I dont think anyone would choose to get Sinovac, it also had questionable performance against Delta.

And AZ does work as a booster even against Omicron.
I wonder if Australia’s chief medical misinformation doctor, Norman Swan, will walk back his constant attack on AZ. I think it unlikely.

Even in Australia there was a point in time where choice of CovidVax did not exist

Disagree -there was always a chocie to wait in Australia for vaccine of choice, we knew from the get go there were going to be 2-3 options. And even early on know quite a few over 50s who wrangled Pfizer though not strictly eligible, all that was needed was a doctors note expressing concern about blood clots from AZ.

Also vaccine tourism is real, many from Asia travelled to US to get an MRNA vaccine over the last year.

Ex-pat friend working in Dubai was able to pay to get Pfizer rather than the free Sinopharm, being a US citizen she knew she the chinese vaccines would not be accepted at home, just as well as since she has just had to rush home unexpectedly for her brothers funeral.

LOL but No
Look up “Greg Hunt expanded eligibility “. That came in force in September 2021

Until then there was no choice and no one in June 2021 had any information that choice was coming when at that time over 50=AZ only. In July 2021 it was changed that 50-60 could have either. And Sept everyone could have either.

Nope, wrong again people under 60 could sign a waiver and get AZ well before September. A cough choice but a choice none the less.

Both Pfizer and AZ were being used since March, it was always only a matter of time before opening up for all, but there were ways to wrangle the system before then, I know people over 50 who had Pfizer in June.

SA allowing anyone who had two AZ to be given the booster regardless of time span gap, from Boxing Day.

Does it really matter a year on?

People are pretty much done with everything covid. Just roll up and get vaccinated. With whatever. As frequently as required.
I was referring to the endless denials and arguments of that poster about what was or was not available 18 months ago. We are over that.., not over being vaccinated now.

Agree. Vaccination with the most available vaccination at the time is the new world.

We know about the induction of AntiCovid IgG antibody after CovidVax

A lesser known but very important other antibody is AntiCovid IgA antibody. This antibody is secreted by the body’s mucosal surfaces - lining of nose, mouth, gut and is an important first line of defence in infections which come through the mucosal surfaces

It appears that IgA levels drop off much quicker than IgG levels which reside in blood - see this paper, after CovidVax

Another Paper suggests infection plus vaccination induced an higher IgA level.

Not sure what to make of all this but maybe natural infection plus vaccinations is not necessarily a bad idea

The other way to interpret “live with Covid” is a permissive Covid infection policy with manageable hospital admissions.

Which is pretty much where every state, sans WA, is at. Let it spread, and bump the restrictions up and down to manage the health system.

Almost back to flattening the curve to protect the hospitals...

Incidence of Myocarditis from multijab mRNA in under 40 higher than myocarditis from Covid test positive cohort of similar age group.

Note that the number of people in the age cohort with Covid antibodies due to natural infection plus Covid positive testing would be more than just reported Covid positive as many are exposed to Covid but not tested which means the graph difference is even higher

How to reconcile this from the regulatory point of view?

Basically PZ better than SV
Germany has banned SV for under30. sV for over 30 only
And then what is the difference in benefit and difference in risk between Jab1 and Jab2 and between Jab2 and Jab3 in this age group?

Most still believe the myocarditis is self correcting/temporary and mild and other than symptomatic treatment nothing specific is necessary.

Very interesting graph, thank you for sharing. At 30 and have a booking for Moderna booster, I will definitely keep an eye on further research/analysis and change to Pfizer if it seems prudent.
