Sounds like a good fit for SkyTeam...

I wonder if this is meant to be positive news.

in more ways than one ;)

At least it gives the 'other other' alliance something more in Australia. Still completely irrelevant for us though.

Looks as if Skyteam are taking the Star Alliance approach of quantity not quality.

Lol um.... Special skyteam bravery bonus point offer for flying Garuda?!

Hey I did back in September, 3 sectors can I get the bravery points?

In all seriousness though the safety thing will always be a concern with GA, to me, simply because of the culture in which GA operates. However in terms of onboard quality, my three domestic sectors in Y (two which had PTV's), really was on a par with QF domestic and, well vastly preferable than flying whY domestically in the LOTFAP.

On the safety side of things, as a passenger it's hard to tell - but I noticed they were strict about seatbelts, seats upright for landing, electronic devices etc, which sometimes can be treated rather laxly some Asian (and US) carriers, and also had that reassuring pause on the runway before take off, so I take that is perhaps a sign of an improving safety culture. They must have done something right to get off the EU no fly list.
