We were flying J with Qatar to JFK from CGK and had access to the Garuda Lounge in Terminal 3.
The food offerings were okay with a reasonable selection, but most of the hot food was luke warm. My wife then ordered a wine and was told they only had white, which she was then given. It turned out to be a cheap Bali wine which was unpleasant and she couldn’t drink it, she then asked for a Diet Coke and was told they only had normal Coke. They were no spirits available.
She then went off for a shower which worked, however the drain was blocked and soon flooded the cubicle. I too went for a shower which operated fine until I went to use the basin for a shave and found the hot water wasn’t working at the basin. We reported the faults and was told an engineer would repair the issues.
The only good note was the Bintang beer was cold.
They really need to lift their standards as this is probably the worst business lounge I have ever been in.

Ouch, I thought read elsewhere else that it was supposed to be ok….

I’m doing CGK-DOH-MAD in a few months time. I’ll make a point of not rushing to the lounge.

Last year flying CX out of CGK, the lounge was quite reasonable - one of the Plaza Premium Lounges.

Been about 9 months since our last visit and the GA lounge is probably a 6/10, been in far worse. Small buffet and limited drinks offered but plenty of seating. I do agree it’s not great for their so called National airline.
As you said the lounge for CX is for memory the Sapphire lounge which is Plaza Premium and is miles better, good views and had whilst the buffet wasn’t great they had a fantastic noodle bar with cooks preparing fast and tasty dishes. Disappointing that QR are using the GA lounge

Garuda is indeed a shell of the plaything it used to be when corruption and nepotism were the KPIs of choice maybe 5-10 years ago. The Indonesian government have turned off the taps of free money.

What remains, and the CGK lounge is a perfect example, is a representative of the Indonesian nation: a couple of Insta spots; mostly chaos and third world building standards (that are functional at least); and some lovely, caring people that will do their best with the services they can provide.

I assume QR must be tied to a contract for the GA lounge most other airlines have switched to the plaza premium
