Future of QF27/28 travel post covid

Yes, I saw this a few days ago and wondered ...and hope too that I get into a latam flight if qfs don't fly. My latam flight to Eze was changed like a week or so ago as I mentioned, perhaps in light of new flight paths and all.

LATAM is apparently committed to returning to Sydney from late March, 3x weekly

I actually prefer the LATAM flight times myself. I've got a booking in J for October/November. Especially the return leg leaving at just after midnight and arriving to Sydney around midday. Should be much easier to adjust my body clock with that timing.

The QF arrived early evening and that was great if you wanted to be in sydney, but not so good if you wanted an onward connection. I often struggled to get that flight to CBR. Although once i had my flight changed from the LATAM codeshare to the QF flight and they had to pay for overnight in Sydney as they weren't willing to risk the connection window of about 80 minutes for the last CBR flight of the day. Turns out the flight arrived early and I asked to be switched to the CBR flight and they did.

Hi there...did you find out if you are travelling to South America with Qantas?

No, nothing at all. I still have no idea what's going to happen!
Thanks, I have a booking for the 6th of April to Santiago, I spoke to someone in Qantas and the people from Flight centre kept saying that the flights are at full capacity so they should go....??Very upsetting at the moment,,,

The folks from Flight Centre are probably saying the flights are at full capacity because all the RBDs are zeroed out. This is also how it would appear to a travel agent if the flight was sold out.

The fact Flight Centre is telling you this indicates to me that they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

I doubt the QF flight will run. From EF all seats are zeroed out.

If you still want to travel you may need to push Flight Centre (if that is who you booked through) to find an alternate option.

Excuse my ignorance, what's EF? And what's this info?

I have booked through Qantas itself and they have not provided me with any alternatives or information. I can only assume, with my limited knowledge, that travel agents being a third party know even less and have even less power than the Qantas folks. It's disgusting really. I just want some form of resolution, even if it's a no, but this uncertainty is unsettling.

Yes, there are seats available in my flight on the 30/03. Same available seats as when I purchased the tickets on 20/01. Not sold out.

EF is Expert Flyer, a subscription service that has a lot of flight information. The detail show flights that are on the schedule for 6/2 the date @Sylvana indicated she was travelling. The letters are the fare buckets and the numbers are the minimum no of seats available. It is very unusual to see all seat bucket as 0 and if I look at other the days around the same period all those seat are also showing 0.

Perhaps QF only wants to sell that flight "direct" ie not through agents of any sort?
To control the wandering

I see, thanks for the info. I guess same deal for 30/03...with how much can the airlines get away in terms of timing of cancellations for people's flights. It's appalling that we haven't been advised of these developments. I am also surprised that I don't see that many people on the net asking questions like a few of us here and there.

Sylvana booked with Flight Centre, according to her post and I booked directly with Qantas.

If you want to get to south America, I'd be moving to the Latam codeshare flight starting again in late March

The US flights are not an option for many. Many of us don't just go to Santiago and the flights are very long. They do appear to be one of the few reliable ways of getting there, that's true. If Latam is codeshare, it's up to Qantas to provide the option, given that they happily took our money. The fact remains that the flights that were available for purchase over a month ago have all disappeared and customers have not been advised why. This is terrible customer service for a company like Qantas.

Ive flow SYD-EZE (when it was still running) and SYD-SCL multiple times (with onward connections to/from LIM, LPB, GYE, UIO to name a few).

Yes the flights are long via the USA, but they are running atm. My last South American trip I went SYD-DFW-SJO (yes I know Costa Rica is central America) stop-over then SJO to BOG (on Avianca). I looked at coming home BOG-SCL-SYD, but pricing was actually better to go BOG-DFW (1 night for a lovely outlet shop) then DFW-SYD.

Each to their own, but if looking for reliability routing via LAX (i know it sux) or DFW are an option.

At the time of booking my flight with Qantas there was no reason to believe that, being Qantas, they were reliable enough that I trusted they would at least advise their customers that the flight they sold us was no longer operational. I believed that in that situation they would either provide options or they would cancel the flights and give us our money back.
Yes, once they officially advise us that they've cancelled the flights and give us the money they took from us, we can look at those options. If indeed the US routes are the only available/reliable and having had this experience, then I'll need to consider those routes. The point of the latest posts are around the uncertainty around a particular flight that has been zeroed out by Qantas but Qantas is not telling anyone, so I am in limbo in regards to my real options here.

You will get QF points & SCs on the LATAM codeshare.

I thought LATAM were leaving One World and as such there was a sunset on points and SCs on the horizon, if I'm wrong that is great.

My main gripe with the LATAM flights when they were part of One World was the stop-over in NZ, the QF flights were direct.
