Fujitsu to polish Qantas' flying kangaroo - Fujitsu, qantas - ARN

Fujitsu has bagged a systems integration deal with Qantas to look after user facing services for Qantas domestic and international operations.

The systems supplier will provide on-site and remote support for Qantas’ end-user computing systems including desktop and peripherals infrastructure, email and service desks. The contract length is five years with an option to extend for a further two years.

In a statement, Fujitsu AN/Z CEO, Rod Vawdrey, said the company’s cultural fit, flexibility and capability were key factors in winning the account.

Fujitsu represented a high value service and was confident with them as an IT supplier for the airline, Qantas corporate services executive manager, David Hall, said, in a statement.

Fujitsu won the contract after a bidding process against other global information systems suppliers.

cultural fit

Does anyone know how a company can specify in a tender document the culture to which the tenderer has to fit? How would the IT boffins make a detailed assessment of ''cultural fit" and gave it a realistic score in the assessment matrix.

I have a funny feeling that the PR people at Fujitsu/Qantas may have made that bit up just for the press release.

Cultural fix is one of the fuzzy points you can take into account, i have no idea how you would document it though but you do see tender documents hiving the hint that the company likes conservative (eg banks) or is looking for the biggest returns from IT with some level of risk, some company's accpet some risk, others wont. I would say thats a cultural aspect.

But your probably right all the same about the PR dept guys making anything up to sound good and fill space.

You cannot be more correct Evan! (you should see the transition paraphernalia ...)
