Singapore Airlines:

Singapore Airlines will increase its fuel surcharge for tickets issued on or after 27 January 2011, as a result of the recent sharp and sustained escalation in the price of jet fuel.

Cathay Pacific

The Hong Kong government said Thursday it approved Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd.'s (0293.HK) application to raise passenger fuel surcharges by 9%-11% in February because of higher global oil prices.

Annoying isn't it.

Most businesses have to build into the product price the cost of fuel, but not airlines.

Should never have allowed airlines free reign on fuel surcharges in 2004.

Cathay Pacific is usually not too bad with fuel surcharges but Singapore Airlines fuel surcharges are very high already.

Either way a price increase is a price increase and the only ones really affected as usual are those purchasing 'free' award tickets.

I believe SAR HKG legislation is the reason for CX's "fuel Fines" being "not too bad".

Yes you are right and that is what I love about CX aifares in general.

Should be more regulation on fuel surcharges worldwide instead of the free reign currently practiced.
