Hi

I read the article from AFP about fuel surcharge

The savings are even higher when booking a mutli-sector award that originates in Hong Kong. That’s because the regulated fuel surcharges will apply to all sectors in the booking. So Hong Kong is a popular place to start a round-the-world award booking, for example.

It also mentions that Brazil and the Philippines are two countries that have completely outlawed fuel surcharges

Does it mean if I start my around-the-world ticket from Philippine -- it doesn't apply to all the sectors?

Not quite. It is difficult to work out exactly how the system calculates the surcharges and although it is a lot lower from the Philippines you still have to pay something. My research has also revealed that the lower surcharges from the Philippines only seem to last for around 9 sectors. After that it spits out a ridiculously high surcharge. Best to do a dummy booking and see what works best for you.

Thanks so should I use qantas's online booking to test it one by one (multi city flight?)
